If you're looking to to get the money you invested in the miner back as soon as possible then the obvious answer is to run it 24/7. With a S7 you'll find it very loud so you may want to shut it off when you're home. With free electric you're really not loosing much by doing this other than difficulty will only increase over time so it's best to try and get your ROI as soon as possible. As far as maintenance, there really isn't much to it. If you miner is running now then it will likely keep running for a while. I would recommend getting a can of compressed air if you and blow the dust off of it every month.
