Title: So how many of you are going to sell to rich Wall street tycoons?
Post by: Kprawn on March 07, 2017, 05:19:38 PM
Let's say this whole ETF thing gets approved... and the big guns gets entry into Bitcoin. I speculate that most of you will be selling your bitcoin

before the price reach $2000 per Bitcoin. The majority of bitcoin  owners will sell out to Wall street giants, when the price reach these levels. I

think greed will win out over principle....  ::)

I hope the true Bitcoiners will hold out until we see prices near $10 000 per Bitcoin in the future. Do not sell ALL your bitcoins, when the price

hits $2000 ..... hoard some for the future, when the price will be $10 000 and more.  ;)

I will sell some, just to reward myself for being this patient.... but there will always be some bitcoins in cold storage for the future.  ;D

Let's hope for the best.  ::)

If It reaches 2,000$ this year then I don't see why It can't reach any other price. I consider people who will sell If the scenario you said happens as "weak hands" and the Wall Street guys as "real investors" who would actually see the real potentials on bitcoin so yeah why not, I have no problem seeing people selling at that price, I know I will keep mine and enjoy watching the price going to the moon and seeing the regrets of weak hands after that.

Sell? I'm actually going to buy some ETF with useless cash that's currently sitting in my IRA.

$2000 is peanuts. $10,000 is less peanuts but still not enough to get my watery sap rising. I plan on spending it, not selling it.

One of the reasons why 21 BTC holders (and above 21) will be rich in the future, it's precisely because the fact that most people will sell along the way.

It will be increasingly less common than people holding 21 BTC+ will not have sold at such succulent prices.

It will not be clear until a decade or two, when 21 BTC people are rich and don't need to work a day in their life again, that selling was always a mistake.

Although ETF approved, i don't think prices will continue to rise even if the price increases, but I sure will not be as fast as is widely predicted by bitcoin users.

sometimes selling is just to make ends meet, so I don't think that it is a mistake in such cases.

food+shelter>bitcoin

Besides, do you put your trust fully in a system that seems to at least in part being unduly influenced by a few individuals whose motifs are shaky at best?

I have a feeling that we wouldn't have to worry about bitcoin crossing $2000 this year. First - ETF acceptance is unlikely (not impossible though).
Secondly, traders and part of the community seem to avoid scaling problems rather than confront them.
But scaling problems will catch up very fast and when enough is enough and patience will run out, then I expect bitcoin's price to dwindle drastically.

Paradoxically, the number of bitcoin tx will decrease with an ETF approval because many people will be trading ETF instead (if it is approved).

It is possible, I can see that happening. At the sime time limiting bitcoin transactions and hoping that this will help is still avoiding the problem.
We will still have ridiculously high fees - technically even higher, due to fact, that price in dollars could be 2x higher than it is now.

I want to hold, but I'm trying to decide how to lock in profits.

If there is a monster pump that looks unsustainable like 2013, then I may short to hedge my long.

I won't be selling the majority of my coins at $2000, I'm certain of that. Might look to get 80-90% out at around $5000 per coin though.

Let me say it this way: Not one bit, these guys will get from me! NOT ONE SINGLE BIT!!!
If others are happy with 2 grant so be it!
I will continue hodling! I hope being able to exchange some BTC in the future for a nice property!
BTC is way too precious to dump it for some shitty fiat!

I'm actually changing my mind now and thinking I am not selling. I'll be the 10 year plus man that will hodl until I don't need to cash out. $10k was my figure but the money I've invested I don't need so I'll hang on.

For me it will all depend on the price movements, the news, events and speculations. I will hold on to my BTC's for now, but if for example the ETF would be approved i would definatly sell about 80% of my stash when the price would move fast to the 2.500 - 3.000 euro range. Just to buy more BTC on the dip that will follow after   8)

I started converting a big part my fiat to BTC  about 3 months ago and im still buying more weekly because of the weakening euro. My brother has been mining and trading bitcoins for several years now, guess he infected me with the BTCvirus because of the huge profits he made since then  ;D

Ok this some good argument you are bringing here.
It's not so important that we reach a certain price. It's about how we reach it!!
If it's healthy steady growth like we see now since october 2015 you would be absolutely crazy to sell your stash at 3000USD of course!
If however the 3k will be reached withtin weeks this will create panic where all the guys with common sense know a big correction will happen and therefore everybody will try to sell on top.
These are two different cases everybody needs to be aware of!

They're going to charge you inflated fees for the privilege of holding your BTC.
Smart money always wins.

$10k is a good short-time price imo, I think by 2020 we could be seeing ridiculous numbers.

They only part of your statement that makes this a logical decision is "IRA". For any other reason, you'd be buying the right to be charged a fee to own Bitcoin!

By the way, Bitcoin is already an acceptable asset to be held within an IRA...no need (really) to buy the ETF to get US tax protected exposure.

I don't rely myself with the approval of ETF. There's only thing that always come to my mind. I'll keep on holding until seeing the price that will satisfy me. But with this matters, when seeing the price hits at $2,000 it's my nature to become greedy and will probably sell some of my coins that I'm holding out on my pocket.

Let's hope for the best.  ::)

Yeah for the sake of all bitcoin people.

The issue is not whether we sell or not but whether after we sell if we come back to bitcoin, if your choice is to get out of bitcoin then it makes sense to cash out, but if you are planning to buy again then there is no point in selling all your coins.

I'm so disappointed.

True Bitcoiners also have to enjoy their fruit of their labour and I am doing it 20% at a time. All bitcoin income I receive are devided into a 80/20

split ... I hoard 80% and spend 20% .... but some time in the future I will dive into my hoard and truly enjoy the fruit of my labour... like someone

going on pension. There is a time to work and a time to enjoy the rewards.  ;D ..... There will always be some bitcoins in cold storage for the

next generation of Bitcoiners after me.  ;)
