Title: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 for LTC mining. Will an AMD cpu be powerful enough?

Is this a good motherboard for 4 video card litecoin mining? Will an AMD CPU be powerful enough for this task? I know it works for bitcoing, but what about litecoin?

It will work fine. Focus is on the cards. You can use old motherboards and cpu also

I have the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, Socket-AM3+ in a box here and its runs like there is no tomorrow :)

This motherboard will host four 7970 video cards.

Just make sure you have enough power, the 7970 can up to ~300W each :)
