Hi everyone,

I thought I could sweep a private key (encrypted or not) into a blockchain.info wallet. I've been trying to find this feature today but the only thing I can do is importing. Could anyone guide me please?

Edit: I found this: "If you import a private key with funds, you'll be asked to sweep the address and transfer them to the default category in your wallet" - so I guess it depends when there are bitcoins linked to the private key or not.

In previous version one could import address to blockchain.info wallet, they made a lot of changes to their wallet, I don't even know how to use the new version, still have an ancient account. :D

From my experience with blockchain.info, I imported keys to it but was not able to really get to sweep my whole wallet as they don't have that feature like electrum. Though, you can use the improted keys like any other keys on your blockchain.info wallet, it does not however works too well as you cannot get inputs from other addresses in the wallet. Which sucks, since you cannot effectively combine the inputs of your imported keys with the ones in the wallet.

Well, I guess I (or someone) should try with a private key with bitcoins on it. According to their (blog) post, when it's an empty private key (0BTC) it does an import. When there are bitcoins on it, you can choose import or sweep. But it's not very clear in the wallet itself.

When I imported a funded address, there was no option to sweep it. Well I was using the app, I am not sure with the PC/browse version if it is the same. Actually I don't like blockchain.info, as is actually hard to login as you don't have a unique username and have to verify you identity via email every time. If you are just looking to use an online wallet, better just use coinbase, it's easier to use and they have no fees when sending out transactions.

I was able to import the keys from an OpenDime device to my blockchain.info wallet, and it all worked out fine.  Here was the procedure I used:

1)  From your wallet's home page, click "Settings"
2)  Then click "Addresses"
3)  Under Imported addresses, click "+ Import Address"
4)  Paste in your address (Public Key)
5)  I then wanted my BTC elswhere, so I went to "Send" (Bitcoin)
6)  Then paste in your Private Key (LONG alphanumeric starting with a "5") at that prompt

I then transferred the BTC from there to other addresses.  Everything went well, but YMMV.

Thanks. Without a QR code it's difficult to sweep. This worked for me
