No decision yet. It's funny to see rise to 1365 and then immediate fall to 1070. I believe this is what happened - many exchanges (like Bitfinex) don't allow to modify price of already placed orders. So people need to cancel current orders and place new ones. At one moment a lot of customers cancelled their buy orders and made market immediately thin. And Bitfinex started forcibly close margin positions and couldn't find any liquidity to sell more and more margin BTC. And market moved very sharply.

That may be also kind of a market manipulation.

And because of these manipulations SEC may come to office today, see BTC price movements and reject ETF proposal.

Please.  The two commissioners at the SEC making the decision aren't going to make a decision based on some price movement occurring over the last hour.  If a yes or no decision will be made, its already been done and drafted by their clerks and simply passing through the administrative process to be published.  If not, this is going to be the first ETF in history to be approved by default after Monday passes.

Now the price was found stabilized and moving with good phase. Let's wait till the approval is made officially. Till now I don't think the approval is made by SEC. May be the past sudden pump and dump caused due to the time getting closer to the etf approval.

As a fellow trader I will advice traders to not buy into rumours as sentiment will drive the market up and down before approval or not approval. I also see the price pump to 1,264 dollars in just a minute from 1,197 dollars. What is happening is that market or price is reacting to ETF approval.

Poloniex had a huge swing in price spiking over 1360 but dropping back to around 1175. I'm not sure what's driving that but it could just be manipulation ahead of the ruling on the ETF.

Sorry to burst your bubble but ETF will not be approved. All you need is some reading, educate yourself and you will find out why it's too risky at this stage. Better stack up on altcoins while you can.

The price is so sensitive right now, it's gonna be a big drop if not approved. The price to buy is anyone's guess at this point. I'm guessing under 1000.

You're overthinking it. The price is not going to move by 30% just like that. Don't forget that most bitcoin users held long before they got a glimpse of ETF and will continue even if it doesn't get approved.

But it can fall on 1 week as in January and then go up again

If ETF is going to be approved and we're pushing it, will we approved being taxed by the government?
I was just thinking, because most of the time when we talked about bitcoin and government, it usually end up like the government will not approve anything related to bitcoin. I was just thinking if they did approve it though, it will be to the moon and thus the government also has the right to collect tax. Is this argument valid?

While this should probably be moved to speculation at some point, the price is INCREDIBLY sensitive to absolutely anything that could happen right about now. Any words can send the price flying, and once the decision is made you'll see the value going one of two directions, and it will definitely be a substantial move whichever way the ETF application is decided.

Price probably moved because a while wanted to stir some hype or someone got an early word, either way it dropped off >$40 now and we still have to wait.

The Whales are definitely playing around with the price.... and they know exactly how to time this... loads of people are watching the price for any

indication on what is going to happen... So when they see a increase in the price, people will start buying and if they see a decline in the price,

they will start dumping... So what will you do, if you collectively have enough fiat to simulate a "yes" hype? You buy a bunch of coins and wait

for the price to climb... then you sell it quickly once the price rise and you made a quick profit.  ::) ...That is the most logical explanation.

I was thinking for storing my btc first to tether as its normally going to be worth as it is if its sent there and back to be safe but I'd  rather risk buying DASH and ETH because thinking why they would be opposing the ETF is because of the government. BTC could end up being centralized if the government is going to be in the middle of all these. Either way BTC will rise still without ETF. Good luck to us all I hope to moon though.

It is not just in poloniex, the same thing happened to bitstamp and bitfinex. Maybe it is a manipulation or there is just too many sell orders at 1300+ levels that it pulled down the price when it got hit.

Margin Shorts
Long Traders with Stop Loss Orders on the 30 day EMA at around $1140
Long Traders With Stop Buy Orders on the break out at $1300.

Utter fucking criminality!

(not to mention pissy low volume considering the massive price swing)

It will not go that low, a bitcoin ETF will come eventually. There are other issues such as scalability that needs to be addressed.

Russia just starting researching blockchain technology. The whole industry is moving forward. Bitcoin is just one piece of the pie. A lot of other coins with a future.

Still sticking to the idea that even without this ETF thing, bitcoin price will move forward just like before this hype about ETF related speculation came out.

No other words to say now and I want to take some actions by riding the current trend. I risked now some decent money to buy at the current rate. If price decrease happen after the SEC approval then I will just limit myself to around $100 loss since I will just think of it as a loss on gambling. Now let's get the party started.

We are experiencing some scary shit since then but price are able to come up with the strong support from the community.

Just wondered now that the dissapproval of ETF will make the price decrease so much compare to some bitcoin exchanges hack and fraud events and big names on bitcoin will sold their coins? I will assume even dissapproval will be the judgement, no way it can take the bitcoin price down much.

Price just dropped almost $300, did a negative decision come out?

I think it was denied. I read an article online that stated that the ETF was not approved. I assume it is legit, but I would have expected the price to drop even more than it has.

A lot of people around the world didn't get the memo yet. The price will likely fall further once everyone and their mother realized the ETF thing was just a hype. It will take a while, maybe a day. Others will be happy to make money shorting and some might sell just because others are selling. Perhaps a good idea to postpone buying for a bit longer.

Indeed, some part are of the world are just waking up now and they will be surprised about the price of BTC plummeting.  I just hope they can have hold of themselves and not goes into sell panic mode.  But I still can see price going down since there will always a seller in times of negative news.

I think this will need more than 2 weeks to be able to come back to where it was before the ETF rejection.

2 weeks or 2 months, whatever... It's still the fastest growing investment I've ever put my money into. Fiat is going down like crazy due to inflation, banks are giving lousy 5% a year and freezing your money.
Dear bitcoin, it's been a pleasure!  8)

Well, I sold my BTC at Poloniex at 1260 just 1.5 hours before the announcement, because I felt like they will reject it. I saw their live stream and they were talking about poor people who invest all what they have into the market, and they need to be protected from market manipulation... And it was really obvious that SEC will reject it.

But you know what... I re-bought BTC below 1100... Because I know that it doesn't need ETF to grow. It won't spike, but it will grow anyway.

fuck that lol its own by coinbase what do you expect. but definitely expected etf will never be approved. if it would be, they would have done it a long time ago. they may have been riding the market spike too. its a billion dollar market, who can resist. but they'd rather not.

This sad but in fact ETF just a simple bubble with a lot of the power to make a lot of the bitcoin traders have got trapped on the delusional mind. Just in a minute and the big red candle and what the fuck about that. This time there is no ETF again.

Yeah even without ETF btc will grow but for now I think it's wiser to just wait for another dip since not all bitcoiners in the world right now knows that ETF has been rejected and some are just starting up their PC or whatever they use and will just now know that ETF has been rejected. I believe that before going up again another dip might occur so its better to wait for now.

I'm going to wait to buy a little later after things settle down. I can see the price dropping as well. Even if it's not immediate, I think the price will eventually drop more.

Through their news however, it serves as a publicity for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies which is why some people from the outside are joining the party and invested to crypto.
I saw some talks in the webmasters forum recently about DASH and ETH. They were surprise why they don't know about these two for they only know Bitcoin. Its going to be a good year to invest in crypto and I'm glad I here who already have invested to some that rose up.
