The only thing that changes confirmation times is the fee, or a miner that likes you and includes your transaction. The fact that Electrum txs confirm faster is probably just a placebo ;D

New Electrum 2.8.0 is good also, just set fee slider to high and for insurance mark the transaction replaceable.
