Title: High Roller Double Trouble - With Day 1 minimums back.
Post by: hawks5999 on June 17, 2011, 05:02:40 AM
The Double Trouble universe of games is lacking a place for BitCoin whales to play. I figured it's time to meet the needs of high stakes players!  This game will be traditional Double Trouble  but the stakes are for those serious about their Double Troubling.

UPDATED: Please read the rules

Here's how it works:
1 - Send a minimum of 1 BTC up to no limit
Day 2: Send in a minimum of 2 BTC  up to no limit to:
Day 3: Send in a minimum of 3 BTC  up to no limit to:
Reverting to day 1 rate due to player feedback.

Code:
Code:
1Fn7JNcxwvn9Fq5WzAASruBAmUy4HS5Va5

(watch the address here: http://blockexplorer.com/address/1Fn7JNcxwvn9Fq5WzAASruBAmUy4HS5Va5)

Entries for less than the minimum go to the Operator's Red Bull fund. Don't send in under the minimum!

2 - Promote this game until someone else plays and double your money in 7 days or lessy have in just hours)!  Spread the word to get your payout!

Make sure you send from an address that you can receive with (so don't use ewallet!)

Example:
Person 1 sends in 1 BTC
Person 2 sends in 2 BTC, so person 1 gets paid out 2 BTC - fee
Person 3 also sends in 2 BTC, person 2 gets paid out when the total is at 4 BTC

I'm going to do the same thing others have done, and run the game for 7 days.  There will be the 1% fee as others have had.

Follow along by parsing the code in your favorite python interpreter (http://www.skulpt.org/ if you don't have another)

Here is the source code for the game mechanics
Code:

This game had a different address for about 3 minutes after launch. Someone sent in 3.5 BTC to that address and I have refunded. Feel free to replay at the new address.

Sorry for the confusion.

Please dont take this as me telling you you are doing anything wrong, I want you to do whatever you want.
But it does make a difference there are a lot of reasons I promise. Im 95% positive its better for you too (hawks if you know exactly why and are cool with saying that would be awesome). If at least not to scare more people off. Its better just to keep it going on reasonably small increments so we are constantly getting paid instead of risking a bottleneck. IMHO
Im pretty tired though if someone cares to elaborate or correct me.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: hawks5999 on June 17, 2011, 07:08:24 AM
Wise Old, I can't argue with you. When I've played Double Trouble games in the past I've liked a steady flow of doubling amounts than waiting for a long time for enough people to play. And when I have gotten a little overzealous, I paid my own win in smaller entrants to keep the game moving. The more people winning, the more people playing. And the more people playing, the more people winning!

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: pokermon919 on June 17, 2011, 07:10:10 AM
Well I think the amounts so far is pretty good, I mean if I saw someone send 15+ coins, it would be a visual scare. But that person will also fill everyone on top of his/her 15+ payment.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: WiseOldOwl on June 17, 2011, 07:12:18 AM
Im wondering if it is a bad idea to make a limit or is there already a specific reason why there isnt one.

5 btc 10 btc?

*Edit* I see the reference to the whale thing now..my bad

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: hawks5999 on June 17, 2011, 07:18:55 AM
Yeah wise old. There are other DT games that are playing for < 1 with a 0.1 minimum.
That can get constrained so I figured blow the roof off and set 1.0 as the minimum and let the high rollers go for high stakes.

I still don't get this game.. so if I *right now* (I can't 'cause I'm at work but let's say I could) send in 1 coin, and there's already a bunch in the pot, do I get back two right away?  Or how does this work????  only the original person gets the double?

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: WiseOldOwl on June 17, 2011, 05:57:52 PM
There is a waiting line, the pot just fills the next person in line. So if you get in now it will be you paying off the guy a few people in front of you. and then a guy a few epeople behind you will pay u off and so forward. The guy at the end gets screwed.

The guy at the end gets screwed.

That's one way to look at it. You could also say the guy at the end gets the satisfaction of contributing to the game and the community around the game. :)

And I'm sure it's good for some Karma points. Maybe if you are the guy at the end, it will use up your bad luck and if you are mining you'll discover a block with the good luck you have left over. :D

It says not to use an address from ewallet. Can I use the address from my "mybitcoin" account. I've been sending and receiving from here with no problems so far?

no, because you can't control what address it gets sent from so it may well go back to someone else.

Please use your client or the return could disappear into the network without you ever seeing it... and somebody will end up with a nice windfall.

nah i just saw the 10pm announcement and didn't read very close, then I went back to first posts and saw the 10pm time but didn't look at the date, then I saw the hours left and read it as minutes and thought oh, a little over 2 hours left, that sounds about right.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: hawks5999 on June 18, 2011, 04:46:46 AM
Guys, I've updated the first post and upped the stakes for day 2.
Starting at 10 PM PT the minimum entry will be 2 BTC.
Any entries below 2 BTC will go to my Red Bull fund.

I'll also note that during the first day - there were no fees charged to winners. Starting with the next payout the 1% entry fee will be withheld during payout.
I'm also removing the "pot" field from the spreadsheet as it doesn't line up with the code for the game and I think it just looks confusing.

All mechanics will be the same as they have been during the first day.

Thanks for playing!

The most important part is to just have fun with it.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: pokermon919 on June 19, 2011, 01:23:08 AM
Oh ok, can't blame him. More games there are the more spread out players become and thus all games lose an edge. It divides up the volume and volume is needed for double trouble games to be worth it.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble

I think it is because of the weekend. About the same action as the other DT games.

Title: Re: High Roller Double Trouble
Post by: TECSHARE on June 19, 2011, 04:01:38 AM
When you spam Double Trouble threads the only ones that win are the thread poster and a small handful of his friends. What ends up happening is a huge list of losers on EVERY game. If people get greedy and out of hand with the threads no one will want to play any more and we ALL lose. It becomes less of a fun game for us all to play on the forum and more of a way to systematically rob people.

I haven't tried the portugese *spelling* one cause volume is low on that one compared to most, and I didn't want to throw money in every DT game I saw. Just cause I believe the more that pop up the more fucked up the existing games will be.

With a set deadline and no limit (resulting in wildly differing entries), I think this game is dead.  I put in late day 1 and am nowhere near getting paid out.  It is highly unlikely I will reach payout(only 13 entries in last 4 days), and any new entrant will see that it is an obvious loss for them if they enter. :/

Yeah I think there is probably some impact from people having BTC tied up in mtgox making it harder to play the big entries. Hopefully, as coins get freed out of mtgox people will be able to play the big entries. We'll see in about 31 hours. :)
