Title: My blockchain.info wallet is cleaned out by hacker
Post by: blockchainuser9987 on March 11, 2017, 08:36:03 AM
Hello,
I deposited some bitcoins in a new wallet created on site blockchain.info

Within minutes of creation of my account the account was cleared of all the monies.

I also transferred to an address as I needed to do a bitcoin transaction and that showed pending at the time, but after checking several hours later the address where the bitcoins were sent got changed too.

So every bitcoins was stolen from me.

Here are the transactions

The first fraudulent transaction
https://blockchain.info/tx/dd6dbc6296984a8ae73371248210cb23d3bc1848f47c87658600c7443babfbb7

the second fradulent transaction
https://blockchain.info/tx/f41e20da01cda25bced9b2a9201b5e6a3517cedf0fa84b0f1e4b080ec4f7769d

The amount lost is miniscule but could have been more too.

I suspect an inside hand in this.

How can I get my bitcoins back and the scamsters be found out?

I suspect that somebody got your email , identifier and password so they have a total access to your wallet. Probably the culprit is near you and you share the same Wi-fi or somebody inside your home. Another possibility is that your computer has a virus that will send data to the hacker so he can access your wallet address.

No this is not possible

my email is new, my wallet was new, I am protected by antivirus and this is a new computer.

I have used other bitcoin wallets.

However I noticed the following

Blockchain.info address url changed to blockchalna.com

once I logged in.

It was able to deceptively do my login too, this means that blockchain.info has linked up with other hackers to steal all the bitcoins.

I have seen similar reports of other users too, on its facebook account also I am seeing several similar reports like mine.

That people sent bitcoins to addresses and they went to some other addresses.

This is BIG BITCOIN SCAM>>>>

Then you are victim of phishing links made for the users of blockchain.info. Are you sure that the link is https://blockchain.info where you login? I said it as you mentioned this.
However I noticed the following

If the email is new, there is no doubt that your PC is infected with malware that gives access to hacker.

You might have an installed bitcoin related software, or a coin mining software with a silent virus just waiting for a chance.

You must reformat your PC and reset all your cryto related account passwords.

To be honest, the chance of the scammers getting caught is pretty low.  That's why so many hackers try to steal Bitcoin - if they're good at it, it's pretty hard to track.

You're also unlikely to get your Bitcoins back because they would have to send them back to you.  However, what you can do is take precautions for the future:

1.  Make a new wallet.

2.  Go on to the "security center" of your new wallet, on the left.

3.  Take all the precautions that it suggests, especially enabling 2 factor authentication.  You should also block Tor users which Blockchain tries to do (a lot of hackers use Tor so this would make you a bit safer).

If you're serious and intend to hold a decent amount of Bitcoin, you should try a cold wallet (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage) or ideally even a hardware wallet (https://trezor.io/).  Some people argue that if you hold your Bitcoin online it's never safe, and while it can be reasonably secure, to some extend they're right.

I'm not sure what you mean by "inside hand" but if you're suggesting that blockchain.info did it rest assured that they're legit.  You could have fell victim to a fake blockchain.info or phishing link.

You could also be infected by a virus, in which case you need to run reputable antivirus software and you still may not be 100% safe.

Yes, Your thought is right . I 'm used to be like this and I lost some bitcoins . You must clear old system or format you HDD and re-setup new system.
I'm sure you will not see this issue anymore.

No, it means you logged into a phishing site. Did you Google blockchain.info or did someone send you the link? You should have the url bookmarked and check it carefully every time you log in. If you also had 2-factor authentication and a second password this likely would have been prevented.

This is not the first time I am buying bitcoins or had a bitcoin wallet.

I have had several bitcoin wallets which never got hacked, like coninbase, bitcoinwallet, Zebpay and more.

Although a scamster in the past took my webmoney but did not pay bitcoins but this was an year ago. I was able to find him the exact person and had a telephonic chat with him, his name was Govind Sidhu and I did expose him, however he was not caught by authorities..

Anyways now I have never had a coin mining software installed on my system..

Nor is there any malware and you have to take my word for it.

I am connected with a very high speed internet connection with 50mega bits per sec speed, and I do also happen to install the latest antivirus and malware software.

This is the sequence of events that unfolded..

Do remember that any login to Blockchain.info is protected by a wallet identifier, a password and approval by email.

In this scenario if a phishing site does happen to obtain my password or wallet identifier it still cannot do anything because it would not and cannot gain access to the wallet because it would never have the email approval, (which 99% possibly takes ip address into factor)

So the facts of the case are
1. New Wallet, new email, safe computer, high speed internet with all latest malware protection and antivirus,
2. Have experience of bitcoins since 2012 and also had been scammed once before
3. The address where I intended to pay the bitcoins got changed.
4. When I went out to do a transaction using my blockchain.info wallet the transaction showed pending and the bitpay invoice was unpaid
5. The address where the bitcoins were sent got changed to some unknown address where it was not intended to send them
6. The support team of blockchain.info is completely clueless and helpless

My takeaway from this SCAM
1. If I were to take take every penny I owned and put it in bitcoins I could turn bankrupt in a single night...
2. The Blockchain.info wallet has had several similar reports
3. I used to think bitcoins could be tracked and hackers traced but now I know this is not possible
4. Blockchain.info has been completely unsupportive in this case, the transaction showed pending without even a single confirmation for several hours..
5. Blockchain has links with other sites and automated system to steal and clear out all the bitcoins from some accounts.
6. I checked the place where the bitcoins were transferred and it is my personal belief the same scamsters have stolen at least 10 mil in bitcoins...

This makes a lot of sense. Im proceeding on bookmarking blockchain.info right now and enabling all the security features necessary.

Im also looking at the fraudulent transactions. At least we could say that nothing much was stolen.

Do you have 2fa security? What means you need to receive an email every time you want to log in on your wallet?

I don't know if the "fake" Blockchain.info has how to cheat your email confirmation, but if you don't have the 2fa working, it's very easy for hackers.

Short answer is there is no way.

And i'll tell you something. It is definitely not an "inside job" as you suspect. Trust me, blockchain.info is worth way more than $10, and if the owners wanted to scam they would scam for way more than your $10.

I personally have stored thousands of dollars on their site, without any problems.

Remember that they don't save anything on their servers, not even your password. You are also in control of your own private keys.

I suggest doing a complete virus scan on your computer and enabling 2fa to avoid future losses that may be bigger in amount.

Did you enable email login verification? Did you use the same password of email? One more possibility: you used the fake blockchain link.

You should also check if the site uses https and has the lock symbol that represents secure. Blockchain is agood web wallet but you should know that

web wallets has its flaws greater than the other types. Go to the security tab and activate some features. OP should transfer all of his funds to

another wallet and clean his pc/phone.

If you do logged in on a different name site then you got been hacked because you do give your details on your blockchain.info wallet and you should not do that move and also seems like you didnt set 2fa authentication on your wallet then that was just a piece of cake for hackers to stole your bitcoins. Be careful next time thats why its really advisable to have 2fa.

I took a look at the problem which you are referring to and I believe it's fairly clear that there was a hacker who gained access to your account and sent all the BTC to his address.

It is hard for just anyone to be able to guess your account ID seeing as how all the Blockchain IDs are random secure digits to login with. I believe you may have been sent a phishing link that you accidentally clicked. By doing this, they were able to gain access to important information such as your ID, password and more.

Unfortunately you won't be able to get your Bitcoin back, luckily it was only worth about $12. You could contact Blockchain and perhaps they could do something about it but chances are, because the sum is so small, they won't care. Authorities only really care if someone were to steal an excess amount of money.

I would recommend you completely clear your computer of viruses. Run anti malware and reboot discs. Otherwise your account is still vulnerable. Also, all the bitcoin addresses you use should never be touched again as the hacker most likely took their private keys. I'd get a whole new account -- or use a safer form of wallet like paper.

Good luck!
