Post by: shannen87 on March 11, 2017, 01:49:52 PM
Currently 17BTC worth 19108EUR according to https://bitcoinwisdom.com
On the same minute, on Blockchain Wallet, it says that the 17BTC worth 17493EUR
What might be wrong?

Can you show us the screenshot of your blockchain wallet (only total value part) ?
This is big difference in price of around 100 euro per bitcoin which is far more than normal. It is true that different ticker site use different source to display price but this is huge difference to be considered as normal.

May be it is visual bug or their ticker may have stopped working. But it is showing exactly same price as other tickers in USD.

It's just a glitch probably and if you don't mind it's better if you are going to provide some pictures of it. If you think that there's something wrong with it, I wanted to see on how that is real.

This is nothing unusual, Blockchain's prices might be off, and they are not final indicator.
Furthermore there is no 'ideal' and 'main' bitcoin price, you might want to check biggest exchanges to find average BTC price.

Blockchain.info knows that too, this is their official statement:

"The market price may vary on different bitcoin exchanges and also fluctuate relative to the demand for bitcoin and the number of people using bitcoin day to day."

This could be a glitch but I never noticed or experienced this before. I do not base fiat conversion on what is shown in my wallet. I used the conversion price in bitcoinwisdom.com. It is not an exchange site, Why is the price in blockchain.info important to you OP?

There is automatic price converter build in blockchain.info wallet.

When you are sending your coins to someone and decide to send exactly $XX dollars, you can do it directly without using external price converters.

If that blockchain's price differs from what current 'standard' price is, it could become a problem.

Price gaps are too far away to consider when you tried to compare it on other prices/exchanges this might a bug for sure but possibilities of price movement from time to time might be possible that causes such differences on price when you try to look at the price.I would like also to see a screenshot regarding on this matter.

Well you can't expect blockchain.info to provide perfect updated prices every single minute.

They are after all only a wallet service, they can operate without a price estimate on user balances at all, but they have and that is only an estimate of your total bitcoin value in all of your bitcoin addreses in your wallet.

Even bitcoinwisdom isn't 100% accurate, because you are probably not going to get an account to trade with on a big exchange when you've only got say 0.1 BTC to sell.

Go to localbitcoins and browse the rates of the payment method you want to sell for. That's the most accurate.

There's nothing to be concerned about here. This could be for many reasons.

The first, and most probable, is that there was an overload on the Blockchain's servers and thus the price was not able to update itself as there were major fluctuations on the server. The engineers will clear this quickly.

This problem wouldn't have an effect on the balance on your Bitcoin wallet because it's not based on USD but rather BTC therefore it will not lower the amount you've got.

However, let's hope they fix the issue soon.
