Title: Looking to invest lots of USD in Bitcoin, where do i start ?
Post by: CaptainCallipo on April 21, 2013, 07:20:55 PM
Hey guys,

I'm looking to 'invest' some money in bitcoin. I am looking to invest between 60,000-100,000 USD into Bitcoin. Hoping to save some and then potentially open an exchange. Payment by a wire, preferably US but can do international. If anybody has any ideas on where to go then any help is much appreciated :).

Your going to have to buy this amount incrementally, possibly speak to representatives of large exchanges. Or simply start up your exchange with only an option to buy for the first month/week (depending on how much of a bargain your exchange rates will be).

bitstamp.net has been trustworthy so far, but who knows what the future will bring?  As torba said, just start buying.  I would transfer $10,000 to bitstamp.net at a time and take the coins out before transferring more.

You can start off by reading. Read, read, read until your eyes bleed. Learn as much as you can about this currency. Buy a few coins, spend them, save them, use them to test wallet security. Then go in for the large amounts. Otherwise you'll just be another story of losing your coins, forgetting your wallet password, or transferring tons of coins to the wrong address.

Seems reasonable, i think i may aswell chain a few exchanges together tbh. I can provide my ID so i don't think it will be a problem ? should i avoid mtgox ?

I am not new to the currency, i made this money by selling my bitcoin at their peak and it seems like a stable time to reinvest

Holy hell dude. With that much fiat why would you even need to invest?

Well first thing is to study the existing exchanges and find out what's best for you, but before that you should probably figure out what you are doing/getting into.

That's a lot of money to through around and you could get easily burned if you just jump headfirst.

I can sell you some bitcoins. I know there are plenty of others that can to, you'll probably need to trade with several people to get the full amount.

I am more than happy to trade with trusted members on here. How much would you be interested in selling ? :)
