Title: IO erros - is my card dying?
Post by: Evervescant on April 21, 2013, 07:37:07 PM
Hi,
I have a MSI 7950 and lately I keep getting IO errors after a short while when trying to mine. Although my card is heavily OC'd for gaming, I have been mining at comparatively low clocks (temps are around 60c). I thought maybe my card was dying, but I don't experience any stability problems when gaming. Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on here? I used to be able to mine just fine. Also, I have tried many different drivers and still no luck.

Thank you, any help is appreciated.

could be a few things but check the pool see if they are using stratum and see if your miners using stratum. also try setting the fan speed manualy so the temps are lower, its more than likely not the card but has something to do with connecting to the pool

I am running multiple gigabite 7950.
By one where a single card is in PC there I am running it on 995 MHz  which is 5 MHz under factory setting just to make the temperature stable (84°C) (around 500 Mhash/s).
In PCs where more cards are running, the main I am keeping on the above mentioned frequency as it is always bit warm. Others I am running on 1135 MHz (with 69 °C) (around 600 Mhash/s), as on 1145 it was dying.

What are your settings?
