Title: Poloniex Trading Guide
Post by: shamzblueworld on March 17, 2017, 05:14:23 AM
I've just transferred a small amount of bitcoin to my poloniex account, it is my first time so I would like to get some help from trading pros here on how to go about it, how to know which altcoin to buy and when to buy it and when to sell it.
Apart from the small amount of profit that I can earn with it, for me its also about learning and experience.
So please, if you have some input, do share.
Thank you

Few tips from my side (although i am not a pro trader  ;D)

1. Only trade alts that have good amount of constant daily trading volume.
2. Don't buy anything when it is pumping and don't sell any alt when it is getting some price correction.
3. Don't follow tips that you may get from the polo's trollbox.
4. Margin trading is quite risky but even with small amount of bitcoin you can earn really nice profit if you can predict the market accurately.

how to know which altcoin to buy and when to buy it and when to sell it.
Its very hard to predict which alt will have pump and which can get dumped, you have to check every piece of information about alt that you want to trade. Check top 10 alts from coinmarketcap and do some research about them before investing anything in them, don't invest in alt with very low marketcap.

Thank you for the smart tips, any heads up on how to predict the market? I know it cannot be predicted which one is going to which way but how to see which one has been doing well and which one is table?
I am a novice at poloniex so cannot really understand all the graphs and values there yet.

There are loads of youtube videos on this.  you wanna look for an alt that is neither going up or down but one that is going sideways with moves up and down.  You really need to maybe do abit of research aswell to help you out.  Trade slowly at first.

Make sure you follow the charts on any coin you are interested in buying. I recommend that you wait for a drop in price before you buy. I also recommend sticking mostly with the major coins like BTC and the major altcoins.

There's this daily crypto related news show on Youtube called 'The cryptoverse', they have a segment where they go over the Bitcoin price and altcoin prices, as well as give any news regarding Bitcoin and altcoins.

I've based a few trades of off news I'd seen there and it worked well for me at the end.

It's also pretty interesting to watch and the presenter knows a lot about trading imo.

My technique in trading was choosing best altcoins with high volume and watching the graph for my technical analysis, buy when the price is low and sell when high..be patience do not panic, wait for a perfect timing before you sell..your objective is to gain and not to lose.

Does Poloniex need you to verify your account to some point to just want to trade with small amounts?
Like under $1000 USD and then be able to withdraw from it less than let's say under $2500?

That's right and if you don't have patience then surely you are at a wrong place and you if you get panic and sell when price is lower then it will give you huge loss which may become difficult to recover in future so the best strategy is to buy low and sell high.

Poloniex asks for verification if you need to withdraw more than $2000 worth of Bitcoin per day, which is definitely not a volume that any normal small-time traders would reach, even on a professional level (obviously $2000 per day is well over $700,000 per year).

My main tip is that when you see that the price of something is rising significantly, don't buy it.  Most of these pumps are very brief and will collapse before you know what's happening (with some very well-marketed exceptions such as Dash).

Do not buy altcoins that you never know.
Trading in Poloniex means you want to trade some btc to altcoins. First you have to learn is, what is altcoin? And many questions after it like Is it created by someone/group? Who is that? Who is the develover? How much is that coin supply? Market cap? Etc.
Known the altcoins like expert, and then trade it. Without any knowledge about it you will be end loss anything and trap by dead/scam coin.

Consider to get in on the dip, i think about the coin always having the negative trend and if you have a good analyzation and try to buy them on the bottom price and just waiting for the pump will come.

I'm not a pro trader either but everyone know if the best time to buy altcoin is when the price is low and sell it at the highest price (Buy at low and sell if at high price), i would like to suggest you to read this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1715214.msg17180511#msg17180511 that's really very helpful information for me.

Nice tips like in newbei very greatfull, Hope OP make profit in trading even if its small amount like me i invest 5$/0.005BTC only in c-cex and in next 2 days it grow to 25$/0.025BTC, but now im in poloniex because of what c-cex problem and also there's no active traders like in poloniex they have

My tips:
• Buy/Low | Sell/High  (Research first to the coin you will buy)
• Learn how to read Chart/Candlestick

This is the last thing i want to say is:
DON'T TRADE WITH EMOTICONS

Just saying that
• Dumps Love Pro
• Newbei Hate it (Think First)

How much have you deposited?

If you have deposited small amount and you should probably just invest in some coins that you can take some risks with says the amount isn't large at all. However if you were having some bigger amounts then you should probably consider investing in safer alternatives.

The real professional Traders online usually use margin trading. That basically magnifies the balance and every trade the conduct. Obviously that comes with a lot more rest as well it really depends on your personal risk profile so choose for yourself

My tip,
1. First choose a major coins, ex: ETH, XMR, DASH, LTC, etc..
2. Check out the graph history, see the daily data. And view it within a month
3. Select a coin with good volume and on it's low value.
For example: If a coin is playing between .025btc to .030btc within a week, then bought it when it become .025 or lower.
4. Create a SELL order when it reach it again to 0.030BTC then you will have additional 20% earnings.

Goodluck

You do not need to perform the various techniques that exist in the trading, the main thing you have to master is your mind and your analysis. Because trading requires thought and also your analysis, if indeed analysis and also mind you it has been very well trained I make sure that you can do well and gain an incredible advantage. For those who use the strategy would have been to master it all, if you've mastered it I am sure you will be able to create a strategy that best

Dont try to buy a new altcoin on seeing its rapid price rise as mostly it may be a pump.
Dont get panic in buying and selling a coin.
Do your own market survey, read the ANN thread of the altcoins and find the most under valued altcoin.

Very informative on all the things I had questions about using poloneix as my go to exchange for all my alt coin trading.
Thank you very much bitcointalk forum members who are contributing here with their experience and very well respected advice! ;D
