Title: Sub $1000, now what?
Post by: rfisher1968 on March 18, 2017, 03:04:19 PM
With altcoins on the rise like DASH, I'm extremely worried about bitcoin. If bitcoin dies then confidence in all crypto coins die.

there will come a time when even bitcoin might die. But i highly doubt it will be any time soon.  Just do not panic and sit on your BTC. is just NOOBs buying fud and panic selling.

Are you kidding me? If price of bitcoin goes down that doesn't mean that it will die or disappear in coming days no doubt the price fluctuation is too high at a moment and even if it goes down it will surely recover in coming days so I don't think there is anything to worry.

Noobs? Why wouldn't you temporarily swap depreciating asset for appreciating one? After the bottom is reached, you swap back and have more bitcoins.

Hold your horses Cowboy. Yes noobs as in people that do not understand what bitcoin has done and how it has survived in the last 10 something years and noobs that sell bitcoin to fiat just because btc loses 10% .  did i say something about traders swapping btc to altcoins and back?

If the price goes really low($200usd) then confidence in all crypto coins will be low. It will be a lose lose situation.

Well you said it, we need bitcoin for anything to survive. Death of bitcoin and 50% of people would walk from crypto. Im thinking this is just like any other down move from the past.

I really think real CALLs and PUTs would help the price. I personally have the gold ETF NUGT and buy and sell calls all the time. Like when bitcoin was $1250 I would have bought a PUT to protect on the downside. But right now I would buy a CALL hoping the downtrend is short term.

Down to $1000 is doesn't mean bitcoin will end shortly. It is the real default character of bitcoin called extreme fluctuations, that's cause bitcoin is good to trade. And this is for your information, bitcoin has died 125 times spread on 8 years since 2010 until 2017

The best thing to do now is to sit quite and hold your coins and have a close watch on the price movement and if you have excess cash then you can buy some coins now as this is a great price to buy bitcoins and sell them once it gets higher in coming days.

If you think the people supporting BU will see sense then you should buy if you think they will push ahead, shorting is probably better.

900$ is good time to buy, expecting more drops  ;D Cheap coins everywhere. It will recover soon, pump and dump happened 100's times for btc .

But you don't know when DASH will reach its peak or when Bitcoin will reach its bottom.  I would even argue that DASH has already reached its peak of around $100 and is not being pumped so much anymore.  I think that the pumpers who have made it this high are trying to simulate a real rise by holding it up long enough for it to actually receive market adoption, but it's very unlikely to happen.

Bitcoin won't be on its way down for a long time, so why panic sell when it's at a comparatively low point?  The best place to sell Bitcoin was a couple of weeks ago and if I had owned more Bitcoin I would have done that anyway.

Regardless, people are talking about DASH as if it's on its way to Bitcoin but its market cap is many, many times lower than that of Bitcoin.  A huge amount of the problem is just that its supply is less than half that of Bitcoin which creates the illusion that its price is high when its actual market cap is still very low.

Ethereum is doing a LOT better than DASH and it will still never reach the same levels that Bitcoin is already at.

Yeah even the current price is good to buy bitcoins as price will recover very soon so there is nothing to worry and if you miss to buy right now then you will also miss an opportunity of making quick profits.

Ok, I used this as an opportunity to buy back some coins I sold at +$1200 prices. I personally didn't expect the price to head down towards sub $1000 prices, but today it was more than obvious that it would happen.

Those that have been waiting for sub $1000 prices should start buying right now, but I am fairly sure that they lack the courage to actually do so. Not everyone can handle a market that is getting dumped down.

It is not about altcoins at all.

It is all because people are starting to panic because we have unsolved scaling problem and there is possible danger of hostile hard fork by Jihan Wu.
I expect that we will see even lower price soon. Just because of the domino effect caused by fear of uncertainty of current bitcoin situation.

I guess its time to hold on your bitcoins and buy some. FUD all over the place and a lot have been panicking. Its getting worst by the day so all we have just to stick to it because the price is not going to go back to >$1000. It was quite a surprise actually, but I guess they are dumping bitcoin really hard right now I don't know the reason but its kind of disappointing actually. I hope it will pick up price and rise up a little in a few weeks or months.

People saying that it's because there's a sell off to buy altcoins, you do realize that the amount bitcoins have dropped is far more than those altcoins are worth in total right? This is just normal fluctuation. The price was a bit inflated and it's settling back down to where the real value is. I just hope we're not in a bear market now.

Bitcoin will not die for sure, but there is possibility of split around the corner. Don't panic just hold your bitcoin tightly, personally i have diversified my crypto holding between ETH, XMR, DASH and BTC so haven't lost much in terms of fiat but i am also worried about how dip price can go on panic situation like this.

In 2 days its down $300 usd and you think its a good time to buy. So far the bottom/support has not been reached, so buying now would be a bad move.

These are interesting facts about the current situation I am also quite sure there is nothing to worry about current price. Bitcoin will recover soon and this time will make more strong comeback.

No. Buying should be done in low quantities as that would leave you with enough fiat in case the price happens to go down even more. I couldn't resist buying and managed to grab myself a whole Bitcoin at $970 which I am very pleased with. It might fall down even more, but I don't believe it will fall down all the way to test the $900 level. If it goes there anyway, then I'll probably buy again.

Bitcoin isn't going to die. The price rose too high in a short period of time. This is just a correction and the ETF rejection could be a factor but it took a few days to drop. We will hit a bottom soon and price will gradually increase again but more slowly.

Many of us predicted this drop on 1000 dollars, nothing new about that. What is next is yet to be seen, I expect price to be here for some time maybe to get back on 1300 +, and I think only in October November we can see some bigger increase.
Dash raised a lot, but I read here on the forum that this rise is not sustainable, and there is talking about how this is not the end and there is talking about 1000 dollars for the next station. I don't know what to think about dash.

Even $1000 is a good price to holding instead of reaching to extreme level and if there is a major pump in the price then it will surely follow by major dump which could be an risky affair so its better to move on slowly and steadily to a descent level.

Volume is way up and its trying to hold around $1000.  Will be interesting next few days at high volume but eventually has to die down...  Promising at least for now that it will remain above $900 maybe.

that is not happening man, no way it can go that low, miners would have no profit, the whole network would die off, and BU would die too, lower support is without a dub around $600-$700 which is still good for bitcoin, because the last value was unstable we all known that they just found an excuse to dump like they do all the times lol

A bear market was already expected, it's just now a matter of how deep this would go and how far the market can recover again afterwards. We've been here before, it's all the same.

If you are interested to make some profit than buy at this range of $1000. Easily will make +$200 in less than a week.

I started buying a little when the price dropped below $950.  I think that is a good price to some cheap Bitcoins. The price could go back down below $950 again, so there are opportunities to buy some relatively cheaply.
