Title: Litecoin Comeback 2017?
Post by: MiBambino on March 19, 2017, 02:22:00 PM
With the start of the litecoin foundation (https://litecoin-foundation.org/), decent marketing and the possible segwit activation, Litecoin might see a new rise to maybe even 0.02BTC (half of its ATH). Litecoin has stayed rather stable with even a small growth over the last years, and occasionally a few spikes appear, which makes it a good investment in my book. What do you guys think?

I don't think so, Looks The SegWit will be failing on bitcoin because not enough the vote powers to activating the SegWit. (less than 90%). In this time i just think if litecoin is a pump and dump coin rather than develop a new innovation or technology for pump his price to the moon.

I'll be waiting for this to happen cause I am wanting to see litecoin come back into being again.

Who doesn't like seeing a comeback. ;)

I am pretty sure that it will - but it can take a long time for that. Both from TA perspective - this was a long bear and a lot of push up is needed to break it up, and from fundamental perspective - looks like it takes a too much effort for the miners to upgrade their stacks for SegWit (that P2Pool for example apparently has problems with C++ libs). A few months yet.

I hope I'm wrong but I think Litecoin is a goner, the project lacks real commitment from the developing team only relying on Bitcoin success to prosper and that seems not to be so again.

it is always a matter of time and turn.
it is not yet litecoin's turn to rise. right now other altcoins are getting pumped and going to the moon. after some time passes and the bubbles in all those other altcoins burst, traders sell their coins (eth, dash, monero, steem, ripple,...) and take the money out.
many will invest that money back in bitcoin and many will continue trading other altcoins, that money will be distributed among many alts.

the pumpers however will take the money and the profit they got from the pump to the next altcoin to pump. this can be litecoin. and when they do, price will go back to ATH and higher depending on situation.

Litecoin is very much under-valued right now... currently it is facing the worst times.

I very much believe in its good future and it should get back in the top five altcoins list once again. I'm hoping that developers are working underground for it these days, it should not die this way at all.

I no longer believe that a Litecoin will once be as great as before. The main developer is already busy with other projects and does not give the coin due attention.

Although never reaching the same levels of consumption and acceptance of bitcoin, litecoin continues to be popular in China, where it trades in major exchanges. It also promises a simple user interface, integration with Apple Watch and Siri, and the ability to purchase currencies from within the application. Electrum-LTC for Android will also have SPV, maintaining an indexed copy of the blockchain on Electrum servers. The wallet will feature encrypted private keys and have a cold storage option.

If the LTC implements the Segwit and it goes well, then we might see it come back.

I think Bitcoin's ongoing drama will be a big factor when it comes to LTC's value and its adoption.  If the hard fork does happen and suddenly we see two BTC blockchains, I thinkma safe bet would he to store some value in Litecoins.  Not because I think it will suddenly surge in price, but it's the more stable cryptocurrency atm.

if by come back you mean price of it going up at least 2x then it has nothing to do with SegWit and price will most probably rise up in the near future because as I explained above it is litecoin's turn. other altcoins as I expected are rising today and those others which were pumped recently are getting dumped real hard.

but if litecoin implements SegWit the price not only comes back I would expect some unbelievable rise out of it that we have never seen before, the ATH will be broken and a new price will be seen.

No never litecoin is literally over i think by now even the developers will be aware of it that's why they aren't introducing any new features. If litecoin still wants to rise 2017 is the last year for it otherwise is will be a dead coin if the price is still same by next year.

the bad thing is that the dev itself, doesn't care about litecoin, he also admitted that it was only a clone of bitcoin, and a failed experiment, therefore litecoin is only living because of chinese mining and their asic who are dumping what they mine, i also think like you that litecoin is dead like doge, and only good for pump and dump, maybe you can make somethign at each halving with a good pump

I get why you're saying this but if you look at the facts it's a great investment and coin, it hasn't dropped in price like some people say, in fact it rose quite steadily over the last few years, second it's miles ahead of 90% of the coins today, and most likely will be one of the few coins that will survive the net few years, next to Bitcoin, ethereum (not a coin), and a handfull of others. It also hasn't had it's pump like the rest of the coins eventhough most of those pumped coins are shit. Litecoin, if worked out properly, could really see mainstream adoption, both for use as currency and as an easy investment for beginning investors who are afraid of the stock market.

Its probably worth making a small investment, although I think its kind of a long-shot.
Litecoin is stable and has decent development, but that doesn't mean much in altcoins right now.
The only thing that matters is marketing and hype. 99% of altcoin investors are fucking sheep that just buy whatever coin is trending on the exchanges.

as far as a pump is concerned you are right, the development and stability or even good code and good features doesn't matter at all. we are clearly seeing this coins like ethereum that are being pumped.

but as far as a solid coin is concerned all the above matter. it is because of the active developing team that litecoin is still alive. it is also having a very stable price in the range of $3 - $4 and that has to count for something.

but all that aside, you have forgotten than Chinese are pumping litecoin and they have been out of the game for some time. with their exchanges starting up again we may expect a nice rise.

How much life does LTC even have left? It markets it self solely as a currency, it will always be looked at as secondary at best to BTC and Dash has made it completely obsolete in its functionality. It seems that its being held together by a stubborn community and 4 year bag holders.

an online currency faster than bitcoin will be popular when all the other shitcoins are gone. I honestly expect people to look for something that looks professional. Other coins like Dash sound like scams, and coins like dogecoin sound like jokes. Litecoin resembles bitcoin in a lot of ways, and the security bitcoin will bring will add to the trust people will have in litecoin. Most people don't look for risk and high reward, they look for stability with small risk and medium reward, and litecoin has been rather stable showing occasional spikes that can generate profit. In my opinion it's the best option besides BTC, definitely compared to the coins that have been pumped like a rocket. What rises fast, drops fast.

Well, I have felt a bit like kicking myself when looking at DASH and ETH have rose, and I can't see why the same won't happen for one of the few alts I have a small sum in. Like many have posted, it's well established (I say this chiefly on the number of LTC faucets out there and the sites I use all accept LTC) and development is alive and well.

At worst, it won't be a dead coin in 2017!

I'd like to see LiteCoin do well and begin to rise like some of the other altcoins. I do wonder if lightcoin will get a boost with the congestion of Bitcoin's network. Perhaps it will also receive some adoption as Bitcoin begins to get it. Lets hope for the best and see where this goes.

Chinese big exchanges only have 2 coins and nothing else: BTC and LTC
this is one of the reasons for the big pumps.

but also litecoin is not as bad as many think. it actually offers good things. the developers are active and good and after all these years they are still improving the coin! and with the latest upgrade to SegWit (which is not yet activated) I am sure this coin will see lots of changes.

oh and it is now worth $5.5 ;)

The Litecoin network is designed to produce 84 million currency units.
One of Litecoin's goals was to provide a mining algorithm that runs at the same time and on the same hardware used to mine bitcoins. With the addition of specialized ASICs to Bitcoin, Litecoin continues to meet these goals.

Its not surprising anymore and it does really happen on cryptoworld on which whales would decide on what coin they would like to pump which we could able to witness that theres a huge spike specially on low valued coins and also to those top altcoin as of now.

I believe the FUD concerning BTC has brought money to LTC, as well as the growing understanding that most of the altcoins today have very little future. Does anyone honestly believe a coin named after an internet meme will be taken seriously in the next few years? A coin like litecoin however not only sounds professional and resembles the biggest cryptocurrency in the world (bitcoin), it also is technologically better than most coins today. LTC not only can become an adopted online currency used by millions, but it can also be used as a low risk investment for beginner investors who want to see occasional spikes which can give them some profit, but not give them the risk of low drops. I personally believe in LTC as much as i believe in BTC, and a 50$ LTC by the end of this year is very plausible, more plausible than a 2000$ BTC in my opinion. Don't forget that in order to have a 2K bitcoin, people need to buy a 1999 bitcoin. If people don't expect the price to rise, people won't buy. A 1000% increase for a 7$ coin (70$) is in most peoples eyes a far more plausible scenario than a 1000$ coin rising with 100% (2000$ coin).

I agree on you with that.
Also transaction times are very long with BTC, it took me approximately 3 hours to send and receive BTC. Don't think the transaction times will be shorter in the near future.

The hype will be gone, but it'll still be "Silver" to Bitcoin's "Gold". Besides, were likely to see a large amount of usage when Coinbase adds LiteCoin into the mix of coins they process.

I think the silver can be ZCash. It offers some function which the bitcoin does not have.

But the question on my mind is, what happens after SegWit activation, there has not been any active development on Litecoin for some time, except for the team to port anything on Bitcoin to the networt, this cannot work like this forever

Maybe ZenCash, which is not a scam.

Zcash just seem to scammy and volital to me be the “silver” to bitcoin’s digital “gold.”
That’s just my opinion though.

ZCash offers the anonimyty that the bitcoin does not offer and it is under good development. It might succeed.

Is this really what people think that litecoin will be coming its price and will be increasing again like old times? I've seen the graph and its pretty great to see the result of pumping and dumping is keep on the ground if it will still continue to pump maybe i'll sell mine before its tolate.

I think the $20 price (giving a $1B marketcap to LTC) will be a good test point.

As if it breaks through $20, it could go to $40 too, testing $2B marketcap. ETH has $4B, so it's possible.

All of this depends on BTC scaling up development too of course.

But I like what Charlie Lee wrote in his blog post on SegWit for LTC and BTC, saying that even if BTC implements SegWit, it won't be able to process all the world transactions at some point and will need its beloved punching bag sister coin  ;D

At the end of the day Litecoin is the only  legit coin with fair start. Not pre-mined / ICO garbage. It will be $2,000+ by next year.

I don't know litecoin since it has started. I don't know its history and I just learned that its ATH is approximately 0.04btc. But when I see this coins few months ago and comparing its price from now, I think I am seeing a new Ethereum in the making. Though I don't have enough resources to base my thoughts, I strongly believe of the feeling I have for this coin. Everyone holding this coin for sure is hoping it will pump the soonest.

I think 0.04 is quite difficult to reach. It does not have many supporters.

For now, Litecoin will be a hedge against Bitcoin with all the uncertainty going on concerning a potential Bitcoin fork. If everything goes well after August 1st, and the Bitcoin network is stable, then Litecoin might drop.

I think ETH has much better potential than LTC personally, I think the demand for ETH hasnt been as high because ICO risk-taking hasnt been quite as present for a little while.
Not sure why though as there are many fantastic ones out there, a few i'm personally looking into are Daostack IO, Muirfield IP, and TIP Blockchain.

TIP Blockchain aims to create the most user-friendly and easy to use platform in the cryptocurrency economy, that connects businesses to end users, and removes the technical barriers that users face today when using cryptocurrency.

Daostack IO powers decentralized companies, funds and markets to make fast and innovative decisions at scale. Basically an operating system for collective intelligence.

Muirfield IP is an opportunistic private equity real estate investment firm leading the effort to reinvent and improve private equity investing through the use of blockchain technology.
