A Major Bitcoin Scaling Meeting Could Take Place This May

A small group of bitcoin industry leaders, developers and miners are planning to discuss the digital currency's development roadmap at an invite-only meeting in May. A notice of the gathering, as well as a list of potential guests, was posted to a private mailing list today, with participants reportedly including major players from the ongoing, and recently active, scaling debate.

wonder what kind of consensus could they possibly reach with this list of participants, sharing polar views on how
bitcoin will be:

According to the message, a list of the participants includes:

Bitcoin.com – Roger Ver or Jake Smith
    Bitfury – Val Vavilov
BitGo – Mike Belshe or Ben Davenport
    Bitmain – Jihan Wu
    BitPay – Stephen Pair
    Blockchain – Peter Smith
    Blockstream – Adam Back
    Bloq – Jeff Garzik
    Coinbase – Brian Armstrong
    DCG – Barry Silbert
Gavin Andresen – Jeff Garzik will represent Gavin

but I hope the discussions are gonna be public and not behind the closed doors one on one talks

Sounds like a total load of bullshit to me

Who the *&$@ is the Vermin to be involved?
Who the *^&$% is Jeff Garzik, period?
Who the ^&#$% do Brian Armstrong, Barry Silbert and Jihan Wu think they are? (they will be footnotes in history while more relevant people could remain relevant for years to come)

And "Gavin" as a deserving category in it's own right? ???

Something's telling me that whoever organised this is either very naive, or very biased. And ditto the preference for publicly available footage of this den of weasels

How is Ver relevant to any of this? Oh right, he's bankrolling the mempool spam attempts and the investor with Jihan Wu - aka AntPool Douchebag mining empty blocks.

And fucking Gavin? What? Like Gavin has anything to do with Bitcoin other than slinging feces from his cage.

What a collection of 'effing goofballs. There won't be a consensus without the users involved, I can tell you that.

As it turns out, none of those people have any more say than anyone else. They can make decisions about THEIR businesses, but not bitcoin. This is just more click-bait FUD from coindesk. But hey, they have to get clicks.

I agree with you - they can not affect bitcoin. But maybe they will sign some kind of agreement. Thanks to which the popularity of bitcoin will grow.

FYI: That is a public "seminar"/convention which sold tickets for entry.
