Scary but interesting!

There was such thing before in 2013 which was the reason i didn't got into bitcoin until i got to know it was a rumour but it was never in Newspaper
So would really love if someone could give insight on this one.

And what's with punishing people using bitcoin!

It is probably a false rumor.

Although I don't know why these newspapers publish things they are not sure about. Creating false info is bad for business.
Got a call from two of my regular buyers asking about this and they seemed worried.

Not going to believe anything until it comes from the RBI.

I am sick and tired of the nonsense these newspapers try to pull off just for the sake of publicity. Give them freedom of press and they abuse it.

If it is indeed true then its a bad thing for all the bitcoin startups, exchanges and individual traders like me.

Maybe Benson can elaborate on this if he reads this.

Many things have been declared pretty much illegal according to indian law. However, given the state of corruption in all levels of the government and even among the locals. Add to the fact that a good bitcoin holder with the relevant knowledge would be pretty hard to find, how do you supposed it will even be enforced if it is banned? Haha

True.
The govt can't even track illegal fiat transactions.

No way they can enforce anything upon bitcoin.

I know, right?
The RBI announcement stated that using Bitcoin is not illegal, but people should be careful while using them.

It is probably a false rumor.

I wouldn't have really cared if it was a blog post or something like that.
I started the thread because it was posted in Hindustan Times.

I agree. I'm not believing this till RBI comes out with a statement.

It's not about Bitcoin being banned. It can't be.
But the effect this decision would have on Bitcoin start-ups & traders.

They are just informed with misinformation. It's very unfair to declare bitcoin as illegal one.

And since bitcoin is decentralized. No one can file a defamation lawsuit or anything like that upon Hindustan Times.
They are getting away with publishing wrong information.

He hasn't done any homework. Calls bitcoin a ponzi scheme :D

Guys relax. Facts cannot be changed.
Bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme and eventually the committee will conclude this. However strict regulations might be applied, so I would suggest to get your bitcoins out of Indian exchanges and shift them to paper or brain wallets.

I could assist if you aren't sure how to move your bitcoins.

Edit1: But this is horrifying, its like monkeys holding AK47s :( Commenting on something they don't know shit about.

Few things needs to get straight.
* Indian Bureaucrats and politicians are nescient about bitcoin. They don't have slightest idea about digital cryptocurrency.
* However RBI might be well aware of bitcoin.

It is noteworthy that they have not banned bitcoin usage completely just shrugged off their responsibility in case of any fraud/situation related to a bitcoin.

It is indeed sad situation, but it will change as US and Russia are becoming more positive about bitcoin.

I wonder before he commented like that to Popular News , he could discuss with a proper professional IT tech guy that what is Bitcoin and how this is operated . These type of baseless comments really makes Indian politician's position very sad in front of world and makes the poor fellow trader's money in risk unnecessarily .  Also that poor MP told RBI told BTC Illegal ? seriously ? Where ? , what RBI alerted people should use this Decentralized btc on their own risk . Total baseless rubbish things really make market volatile more when such position Leaders talk like this . What angle BTC is PONZI lol .. i wonder if he even know what is Ponzi :v
