If you had $100 to blow today, what coins would you invest in?
I'm looking into getting my first Alt-coins, and interested in a long term investment

$100 is not too many but its worth to invest in coins. maybe i will choose several coins like etc, ltc, xrp, nxt, and dgb and i will do for each of coins in $20 because i have 5 coins in my list. i think that coins will be up although i don't know how much the price will go up, but its should up because bitcoin price is down for now.

It is a good place where we can see the rankings of each altcoin and you can see almost the movement of the altcoin and also bitcoin..
Choosing a good altcoin for me as i can see dashcoin is already increase so better to choose the rest like dogecoin and litecoin
And fews for ETH and monero..

At the moment my fav altcoin is Decred, but I dont know if I would spend $100 on it, because that wont get you enough Decred to buy tickets and get more Decred, which is kinda half the point.

If you dont care about morality at all I think Dash could continue to go up. It has gone up a lot recently so a lot of people think it may be in a bubble. I think it may be in a bubble but it may just be adoption because of treasury and marketing. I don't see it being beyond the realms of possibility that Dash will overtake Bitcoin.

If you want to make as much money as possible at the risk of losing 100% of your investment overnight you could go to "coinmarketcap.com" and find some really low cap coin (like on the 2nd or 3rd page) buy a bunch, and then run around hyping it. Again there is a morality question there for you.

I also like Monero.

Also, if you have more spare time than money you could look at "earning" (not buying) some Steem.

If I did earn Steem as soon as I earned it I would convert it to Decred or my favorite coin at the time.

Get something that Stakes or has another way or growing passively is my suggestion for a new user on what to buy ;p
otherwise you will just watch the price of your alts all day and get scared and weak hand sell when they drop 10% ;p
PoS coins grow, giving you piece of mind even if the price shrinks, you just stake a bit extra to make up for it !  ;D

Decred would be a good choice, do some research and you'll be amaze how good this coin is.

its seems that the drama for eth,dcr,strat,pivx and xrp will still going to rise up much better to split your coin a lots of things will happen within a week so better to hold those project and earn little by little, if you achieved at least 20%-50% growth its okay then.

This question has been asked over and over, likely since the beginning of bitcointalk.  You're just going to get people hyping their pet shitcoin, and no doubt you're going to lose money taking their advice.  Why not buy some bitcoin?  And if you have to buy an altcoin, go with one of the more established ones--and I'm not even going to drop names here. 

There's so much you can do with $100.  You sure you want to go the shitcoin route?

Easy pick - XMR. Not have risen yet that much as ETH.

if this is your first time then just watch and learn and keep holding your money in bitcoin.

but coins that are performing well are these:
1. LTC: has been asleep for some time and it is starting to rise up with some strong buy supports.
2. ETC: after ETH pump this coin has been rising up and it seems like some money has flown into it after other coin pumps has slowed down.
3. ARK: is smaller coin in comparison but with a large volume and a good and healthy pump at the moment.
4. there are a couple of small coins that I have invested in and their rises can potentially give a good profit and they are LSK, FTC, BLK and I have made a topic about this last one if you are interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1841642.0

Monero or Dash would be a wise move.They won't give you as high returns but you won't have to take risks with them.Your money will always be safe and have a stable value with these coins.
Lisk and ARK are pretty okay,multiple risks involved there.

I would go with XMR, ETH and DASH but it is going to be better if you are going to focus into one coin only.

Because that $100 isn't that big if you are going to think about bigger profit, these coins are good for long term investments.

If we talk about long-term investment then it's better to put this money in known currencies but which don't cost too much. As ETH is $50 already and Z-cash costs even more, you better choose something like Monero which is only $20 now. Another nice option (but, perhaps, for a short-term investment) is Factom. The price is only $3 but we can see that it looks like it will be growing soon. And Waves is not having its best time, so if you choose short-term investment (and I think that with $100 it is better than long-term) you may invest in it today and withdraw in, say, 5 days. if you want to invest that money in, then buy bitcoin. it is cheap right now. but if you want altcoins no matter what then i think it is best if you don't think about the bigger coins right now because it is almost too late to get any of them, coins like ETH, DASH, Monero have gotten pumped for the past weeks. it is near the end.

if you want profit look in coins that haven't been pumped. coins like LTC, XRP, Doge, ... these coins are either not pumped yet or they are starting to rise and when they do you can expect a big profit.

Xmr will bring your woman to here knees, nem have her on all fours,  Ardor in a ball dress with curtsy finish. Avoid the scrubber ... Eth.

Definitely PEPECASH. It's already up 100% in the last two weeks. It's still early to invest which means you can get some great returns on your $100. With larget marketcap coin you might see a 100-300% rise over a long period of time. With something new and innovative like PEPECASH, that has yet to hit the main stream eyes, you can see 1000% in a shorter period of time. Lot's of good news about it to read up on. Here is one:

PIVX, ETH, ZCash, or Bitbay

Altcoins and long-term are contradicting each other imho. Even with ETH, I doubt you may recover your capital if you invest and wait. It would be a good practice if you catch a being bumped boat and get off from there before others jump out. I am just holding litecoin with negative growth rate and hence I never suggest people to hold altcoins for long haul.

The big dilemma with altcoins must be choosing the right one. Why not you chose 10 different altcoins and invest with them $10 each. Kind of diversifying. You will get definite profits in short term itself.

That's not a bad idea if you only have $100.  That way you can learn about several coins and get a feel for things.  If you put $100 in only one coin you might lose most of it quickly, especially since you are entering after a big rise.

VIACOIN it's good for long investment, because see the roadmap so interesting  ;)

Investing in 10 different altcoins doesn't make sense to me instead I will invest some time in doing good research and after understanding the current situation will prefer to invest only in one single coin from where I will definitely get some good returns and you cannot expect good profits in quick time and you need to have patience if you really want to make good profits from it.

If the point of the $100 investment is to learn about crypto in general then I think 10 different coins is a really good option, you will get exposed to different wallets, different methods of staking etc.

We cannot say that this always works. It is not that easy to predict one altcoin to make your investment by only figuring out the current situation or searching about it. If you diversify your risk with different altcoins, this could also make a good return to you.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at.  A noob might have put $100 in Steem and then game over.  So with a few coins you can at least learn something about things work.  It's gonna be a long shot no-matter-what that you're gonna turn $100 into a fortune anyway.  Get a few coins and put $50 on your favorite.  Maybe it will be the next ... dash?  :D

Right now, Bitcoin would be a very good option for quite long-term investment. However, you could also think about buying just one of the following digital assets and hold them at least one year:

And if you've got some, you'd must be a happy chap right now. Its been on a huge hike, 164%+ at the moment.

I'd suggest Steem, Nem, Maid and Golem, they are pretty cheap at the moment and will surely rise sooner or later and so you'll have some profit.

you said you had 100$ to blow right? then its a good idea to take a high risk for big reward. if you invest 100$ in dash, you wait couple of years and say dash price goes up to 500$. Its still not too much money. You wanna invest in something that has below 60 mil total supply and is worth less than 10 cents.

Alright now whatever you do stay away from dash.
The first coin you should invest in is monero as an long term investment like maybe 2 years.
Second eth and maybe like buy only 1 eth or you can wait for the price to drop which has like a 50$ chance

This is the best suggestion so far since you can able to see which coins are good to put our money on but same as others said here $100 isnt too much but still its possible to buy some cheap coins.I cant recommend for a coin because i do normally see on the ranking when i tend to buy one but i do have some holdings of Alt coins.

I do not think about what you say is good about investing in 10 altcoin, it looks like it will confuse him to invest in 10 altcoin, my advice if you ever see https://coinmarketcap.com you can choose from one of these atcoin, to ensure altcoin good, and you can berivestasi in altcoin you choose to invest well for your future.

If I were you, I would research the top 20 crypto currencies. Then, I would wait for a pullback in price. Don’t buy at the top, let the suckers do that.

If you want higher risk (but potentially very high reward reward) get Nexus.

It is very likely that it exceeds $1 by the end of the year.
Otherwise, like everyone's said, ETH, XMR, etc.
But these coins have high value already and you only have $100, so try to find something that's very cheap and has huge growth potential.

Go for bitbay it's a great coin completely undervalued with great ideas.
Price only 300 sat or something and it's going to explode soon I think.
Dev is a hard worker.
The idea that convinced me was that of the pegging system, that allows that coin to keep a stable price.
There's also a good smart contract  system.

But I hope you will inform yourself on your own, anyone could suggest you a coin, there are thousands of them, but only a handful of them are really worth it.

Nothing hyped. Hype of a coin is temporary, even for dogecoin which was the most hyped coin in the face of the World but it got lower and lower each time.

I think coins that are at the middle would be better for a blow $100 type of approach, if you want 10-20% returns than huge coins are your favorite, if you want 100-200% returns try to get middle coins at 1000 btc volume instead of 15k+ volume. That is why I have some coins stored up at maid, lisk and game now, considering getting some nxt thanks to drop today, cheaper you get in the higher you get out.

I would go with SYS , it has long term potential, it has grown steadily in price.

$100 is too less to be rich, get 10000 USD for bigger profit, but it is always risky.

do small research before you invest this is important thing because altcoin price more fluctuating rather than bitcoin and altcoin price could down or up at the same day however Monero, ETH and Dash probably good to be considering because i think these coin have potential could survive for long term

I would also choose that altcoins because they are competitive and well established, they are the closest to bitcoin; they are already working in a long run. I would choose the coin which is popular too as BTC and of course I would consider the special features.

If I have 100$ I l would like to invest my money in altcoins that worth to invest for. We can also check which that top in the coinmarketcap, and also you can observe first the movement of a certain altcoins so you can invest or trade of. I might invest in 5 altcoins that I can gain profit, so eth, ltc, xrp, and others. Thus, I will not invest in one coins only.

Everything where you invest your money is a risky business. $100 is enough to start in the crypto world. I would suggest divide the whole in parts and buy different coins so that you won't be in a total loss if one coin gets dumped.
Monero is one of my choice where I wanna invest more.
