Post by: SONG GEET on March 26, 2017, 07:04:53 PM
I am quite surprised to see access denied page when i tried to visit blocktrail.com today. It was opening like normal few days ago.

What happened?
The owner of this website (www.blocktrail.com) has banned your IP address (12x.xxx.xxx.xx).
I am not using any VPN or anything.

Any other having same issue?

For me the site is working normally, try later who knows how it will work.

If it does not work it must be your problem.

Maybe someone here in the forum with technical networking skills will be able to help you.

It says that blocktrail was acquired by BITMAIN, I wonder if this has anything to do with the blocking of your IP? however it opened for me without any problem.

No. Bitmain, has acquired a Blocktrail startup in July last year. So this IP issue has nothing to with it.
Site is working fine on my end.

There are 2 possible cases why your IP was banned:

1. Someone with similar IP/Range was using it to attack the site, as a result all similar IPs were banned.
2. It was an just an error and soon will be fixed.

I also got this message  The owner of this website (www.blocktrail.com) has banned your IP address it's understandable to me because I have a dynamic ip which is a shared ip I have to use a vpn to access the site, that is why I prefer blockchain.info to track my transactions.

I guess it is simple a server (mis)configuration considering you as a bad IP to block, for a reason or another, legitime or not... It happens sometimes. Just wait some hours, usually Ips are blocked for some hours, unless they configured to ban th IPs forever. But usually you set up it when the ip is trying brute force or some things similar. So don't worry and just wait some time or go to others places, there are plenty of ;)

You could try to use BTC.com instead and see how things goes from there, they are basically the same service. If you are experiencing the same problem then contacting the support might be the ideal thing to do right now and unless they blocked the IP range, you should be able to use the website by rebooting your modem.

Option [1] could be a likely thing. It might very well be that OP's system is part of a large botnet. It's a common practice that botnets get pointed at taking sites down with loads of data. I use blocktrail as one of my main explorers on a daily basis, and thus far I have never experienced anything like OP is stating. It wouldn't hurt for OP to have his system checked thoroughly.

I never liked blocktrail compared to blockchain.info to track my transactions. In blockchain.info everything is more fine-tuned and more easy to read even for newbies.
I think it must be your problem, your country may have done some attacking to blocktrail website and the website has banned all IPS of your country as a counter measure for this to not happen again. It is working fine on my end, can open it without any problem.
