Title: Payment/transfer question
Post by: zethreal on June 17, 2011, 05:23:02 PM
I've been playing around with bitcoins for a couple of months and was wondering how long after a payment is made should it show up?  I was told a payment was made roughly an hour ago but it isn't showing up in my wallet (not even as an unconfirmed transaction).  Luckily this was a small payment (~$5 USD) so I'm not terribly worried.  I was just wondering how long it may take to show up.  Yes, my bitcoin wallet is up to date & has all current blocks.

Please tell more details.  What is the status of your bitcoin client and how do you know a transaction was issued?

Sometimes, for instance, a website may not automatically issue the transaction but add it to some kind of queue for batch processing or manual review.

Notification on the website states that the payment has been issued.  My bitcoin client is running with 131460 blocks (which matches the bitcoins charts website) - not sure what else you mean.

I have one other transaction from when I first started using bitcoins that's currently showing something around 16,000 confirmations.

I just sent a payment to myself & saw it instantly (although it says 0/unconfirmed - which I'm sure will change shortly)
