Title: Haven't created a wallet, but received an authorise log-in attempt,
Post by: Podge on March 29, 2017, 07:28:35 AM
I have received an authorise login attempt, but I don't have a wallet! It came from Nigeria, is this just phishing from someone else's emails does anyone know? Should I just ignore it, or is this a security issue? Thanks

Pretty sure you are talking about blockchain wallet. If it is the case then yeah this is just a phishing attempt to get your infos in case you have a wallet there. Those phishing emails are spread quite a lot and sadly are common. Just ignore them and block the sender email if it become annoying for you. But if you have a wallet there, for the sake of god, don't click the link and don't enter your infos or you may have a surprise later

The main question is how they know your email address if you didn't signup yet on that site/phishing site? And I'm sure that this email address of yours was used already on registering cloud mining sites or should I say an HYIP sites or ponzi schemes rather that wants to scam many people. So don't wonder if you received again an email the same with this because they have stored this email address on their database already.

Possibly because most people do receive this kind of phishing attempts are those people who do join on those Hyips or Ponzi I can able to say that because I do receive also these kind of emails which is somehow deceiving if you are completely newbie and don't have too much knowledge. Please do ignore this emails because they are just trying out to hack your blockchain wallet.

This is the thing that i always checked before on believing on any offers in the net specially came into a legit site and same as yours i also experienced to receive these type of emails which they announce you recieve a particular amount on your wallet which you will think at first on where those coins came from and if you are careless you will fall to the trap of scammers.

Yep. Likely a phishing attempt. Ignore it, or block it, just do not click the link.

And make sure to better organize your emails. Don't just use one for everything.

Use one as your main/work. Another for social platforms. And a different one for wallets.
Then create one/several as disposables or for those questionable sites.

I am quite confident that this email is sent randomly to you including other thousands of emails. If you have used your email in some new site or random site over internet, than may be your email address with thousands of others got sold to hackers, marketers, phishing sites etc.

Just ignore that email and don't click on any link or down download anything from such emails.

Well that's funny the blockchain never sends you an email even though someone sent you a million bitcoin, the only email that they sent is authorize log-in that's why i always checked their email before confirmed it. This is not the first time there are a lot of different cases out there it seems the hackers are trying very hard to get our blockchain account information, but as long as we know how to secure our account then i believe they will never get our information, the best way is enabled 2 factor authentication.

imo i do not think this is a random phishing attempt from the alleged hacker....they would have got your email address from open sources were we usually post such details openly

perhaps a giveaway or something   ::) we need to be super cautious about sharing email ids in public from now on

Please post a screen capture of the said email and the links associated with it. It would be good for the community to see what actually these phishing emails look like. There are still many unsuspecting newbies here who get victimized.

I agree with pinkflower it would be nice if you post a screenshot of it, and turn your phone verification+email verification for better security.

Correct.Public sources such as mentioning your emails and skype details openly on sites like bitcointalk or completing stupid sign up offers for pennies using your real details.

Did you even read his post ? He never made an online wallet.
