My order number for Jalapeno is 14852 not sure when I will be able to touch my hand on it. Also 3 Single SCs ordered few weeks after the Jalapenos.

BUT, butm but..... They have somethin special planed for them. Just takes some time;)

Hopefully BFL will ship as many Jalapenos as possible using their existing stock of chips rather than sitting and waiting for new SC/Mini boards to be redesigned, built and tested.  That would take at least another few weeks.

They need to ship some jalepenos to everyone on their order list as a booby prize for waiting so danged long and then send out all of the proper orders... 1 free jalepeno for each of your orders seems fair at this point many many months into the slipped schedule process...

Seriously at this point it would make more sense to refund your order and slap a GPU rig together, especially if you bought something else than the jalapeno.

The following is the list of people contacted by BFL instructing them to unplug their FPGAs, box them up, and ship to the newly created space in their warehouse, so that they can receive a lesser GH/s apparatus that may, or may not, use less energy.

You should have done your own research before sending "preorder" money to an obvious scam which did not deliver for many months.

Honestly, I wish I had ordered one a year ago. Now it makes little sense to order one.
Sure, this drip distribution methods make sure the the hash-rate of the network does not sky rocket... so it's good... in a sense.

What I wonder is: how revolutionary is their design? Once one is shipped to a developer, it could be reverse engineered...maybe?
Did they design their own custom chips? Or are they using chips build some other company? In that case, couldn't we reproduce their work?
All I heard is that they optimized power consumption, allegedly by tuning the chips (how? transistor count, die size?)

LE: I studied a bit more ASICs. They probably have custom chips. If with all the people interested in bitcoin mining, couldn't an open source solution be build? As far as I can tell the challenge with ASICs are the building costs - that's why they needed to get the preorders, otherwise they wouldn't have built anything. The price is another strange thing - 274$ a unit(150$ originally) is a rather low price for a custom build chip...

I would normally call bullshit on such a product(it's why I never ordered one - sounded like a fantasy) but it seems that at least a few units shipped and that they are indeed performing 5GH/s at 30W. At least according to the youtube videos.

Why ship at all then? Same goes for their FPGA boxes. Nice conspiracy theory.

It's early days so far in the manufacturing process and I trust BFL will be able to scale production up.  They had better too, as right now no one should be ordering a Jalapeno if it takes the whole company a few hours to manufacture one.  Imagine ordering today and receiving your order sometime in 2014.

Speaking of scaling up, I sure would love to see what BFL has on the drawing board in this respect. Hell, now that they're officially "shipping", maybe they're about to send out a press release of their next generation miners like they did shortly after their FPGA line starting trickling to the post office like a bale of jolly tortugas.

Something like 1TH/s USB miner and 100TH/s "mini" rig? :-)

Do you know if the order numbers started at #1 also what were they at for the FPGA orders?

I feel sorry for those people who have to deal with BFL, but this whole BFL fiasco is as good as it gets in terms of free entertainment.

They ship a few ASIC system to prevent their angry customers from descend upon their office like a horde of angry locust :)

But seriously, they need to show some "progress" so people won't ask for a refund.  They also need to attract new capitals to continue their development.

The only capital they needed was the money to buy the ASIC wafer, which was obviously huge,  and the manufacturing machines, once that's done the business can pay for itself either from sales, or if sales drop off from mining themselves. Either way they have the potential to be successful.

3$ is too expensive with their delivery records ;)

They wanted to ship some out to provide proof that they do have product.  They're still waiting on the new boards to arrive to begin mass assembly, including assembly of the singles.

I agree, if they actually showed signs of reasonable delivery times, I might place an order.

Mind you that goes for most of the ASIC proposals on this forum, if I knew from peoples testimony that I placed and order today I would have it in my hand on such and such date approx, they would get my business.

Have you not read much lately?  They need more capital to re-design their Little Single, Single, mini-rig, meaning new PCB, new case, new power/cooling design, new packaging...  That's going to cost more time and money BFL can't afford if they still haven't ship anything...  So they ship a few to buy themselves a little bit more time and money.  They are not as dumb as some of you guys made them out to be.  They sure are good at stringing their poor customers along.

They could mine as much BTC as they need without having to "string their poor customers along".
But they couldn't mine that BTC without the capital for the wafer or specialized equipment to make the first mining rigs.

If they had large amounts of Jalapeno's or Singles working, they would be mining with them.

BFL is just taking money and promising, while they're 7 months late.... even worse, they're liying about delivery time the whole time to get new customers...

Why do you bend reality? They are 6 months late (Oct 2012 - Apr 2013), not 1 year.
