Eric Schmidt and Jared Cohen on the digital age and anonymous currencies.

Eric Schmidt:
Quote
"Bitcoin is a technological tour-de-force, what I don't know is whether ultimately it's going to be legal; because all money structures need legality for various reasons, including fraud and those sorts of things. It's too early to say."

Edit: Oops, wrong Cohen, not the NY Times guy.

Bitcoin doesn't help Google.  Google does quite well with the restrictions in place today.  It doesn't have to compete with individual engineers raising capital on their own through equity crowdfunding.  Instead because the State doesn't allow engineers to raise capital thorugh equity crowdfunding, Google gets to hire those engineers instead.

Fortunately, Bitcoin doesn't need Dr. Schmidt to look favorably on it.   The market will decide if there's a place for Bitcoin.
