Thanks, but I really don't want to join yet another forum.

If anyone does know, I'd love to just get some short simple answers. :)

So...if you ask some very simple questions about Ripple, a newbie account directs you to a Ripple propaganda site where you get propaganda rather than a simple answer.

Does no one actually know the answers?

1.Is it a cryptocurrency?
2.Does it have blockchain?
2.Does it involve Trusted Third Parties?
4. What is the inflation rate?

1. It is a decentralized exchange running on a custom blockchain. It includes a native token, called XRP which can be called "cryptocurrency".
2. Yes.
2(!?). Yes, every token besides XRP is issued by a third party that you need to trust.
4. Of XRP? That one is actually negative, as all of them are already created and they get destroyed for transaction fees. However, most of them are still owned by Ripple the company, so when they sell/distribute some, this might be viewed as something similar to inflation or have similar effects on the economy/ecosystem. How they distribute their XRP tokens is up to them.

They joined Ripple the company, not Ripple the blockchain. A small, but important difference. These news are about the company, not the currency or the blockchain.

Ripple, the company also has a different product which enables near real time settlement and provides a custom implementation for banks. They likely don't interact with the blockchain at all yet, though it is being made compatible too. Look for "ILP" or "interledger protocol" for more info.

A currency not need to be cryptocurrency for success. Ripple is a proof of this.

Ripple not fully like known cryptocurrency. It's build on interledger protocol.
