ETH: gone down -40%

Hey there roommateagreement - nice to see your post. To anyone who can help: how is he coming up with the -40% for Ethereum? Please help us see the calculation. No disrespect intended.

Thank you in advance.

Eth is not yet at -40% but with time it will get there as well. Better exit now while you still can.

haha, funny. Ok -39% sorry for rounding up the 1%. that surely makes a lot of difference to be dumped -39% not -40%

and here is the calculation if you are interested: [(0.0353-0.0579)/0.0579]*100 = -39%

or you can do it like [(0.0353/0.0579)-1]*100

Not invested in neither of those alts, but I've gotta say just seeing Dash take a dip by over a half of its market price made my day  ;)

I think the really reasons why this altcoins is dumping down is bitcoins is gainings its price again in $1200 mark.As you may have observe when bitcoins price is at dumps altcoins like eth and dash are pumping its price and now thats bitcoins is gaining price again viceversa effect will happen.i think that is why and that is what i conclude in this happenings

the really real reason was that these altcoins were pumped and when an altcoin price is fake that means the bubble it is in will burst sooner or later. and as we see today, it is bursting hard.

bitcoin was just an excuse they used, there is no other reason for them rising. this FUD thing with BU was a perfect set up for them to pump their coins with the moto of "we are replacing bitcoin".

Meanwhile ripple is up by 100%, litecoin by 9%, bitshares by 30% and doge by 40%, what is life.

life is if you can join these when price is low and dump them hard when it is on top not waiting for them to go higher which will never happen.

Totally true , I was also wondering that why all the people were mad to Invest in ETH and DASH  , I asked everyone that why all of you are investing your money in these two altcoins , they said that it will go at very high peak .
But here the reality in the down of the price of the bitcoin was because the most of the altcoin trader Invested their BTC in the these two altcoins and that results into the more and more supply of the bitcoin in the internet market that results in to the down of the price in the bitcoin .
Well king is king and no one can take pace of the bitcoin as the king of the internet virtual coin .

That is a small drop, considering how high it pumped. You have to keep in mind that anything that goes up needs to go down.

Just a quick question(sorry for being off topic a little), is ZCash also in the same league as the above two? Because it has been getting dumped hard as well.

Low price is one factor.
Buying a significant stake post dip to have real impact on the hard dump is the second, equally just as important.

Title: Re: Where is everyone?
Post by: pooya87 on April 03, 2017, 05:21:02 AM
oh god i didn't realize the dip had gotten this big!
although it is expected from these coins. it has already happened too many times before, they get pumped in a short time then there is a huge dump coming down from the top and then it slows down a bit since traders buy the dips and it even goes back up in a couple of dead cat bounces and then slowly crawls back down to normal low price levels.

Title: Re: Where is everyone?
Post by: NUFCrichard on April 03, 2017, 05:32:21 AM
The 'Big' alts pumped massively and people made a lot of money out of it (not me!)

I wouldn't hold alts long term, none have ever shown that they have the ability to hold value over time.  Bitcoin's possible fork did open the door to other coins, but that that hasn't happened means that the alt coin traders have lost interest and moved on to pumping lots of smaller coins, and ripple.

There isn't a bitcoin killer out there, no matter what happens to the prices short term. Crypto is reliant on Bitcoin to fail or succeed.

Title: Re: Where is everyone?

not all coins are dumped, soem of them retain their pump and keep going higher, only the big one have been dumped hard so far

it was so clear that the money from bitcoin when to ETH and DASH, and for pumping again bitcoin you need to dump those that had an emission which was pretty crazy

ethereum for instance had 1300+ btc produce per day, this is almost matching the entire btc mining production...

Bad news for the bagholders of those coins. I would not hold coins for long if it get pumps like that even bitcoin. That is scary pump, and an obvious bubble. The most you can do is get in, make profit and get out.

This is the traders moving their coins around to make their profit- so these can be considered as "noise" (althougth these are quite big noises). I guess all ethereum guys are at /place to built their logo with "$50", not knowing that it is already "$45"....

Well, rightly said. You see bitcoin price today. It is now going up with even more strongness. All the strong alts like Dash . ETH cant compete with bitcoins. They are just Pump and dumps. Only Bitcoin is the best.

don't worry, they will start to come out as soon as there is some reversal and they get desperate for another dead cat bounce to get their short term profit out.

you mean $43 :)
and the only reason why it is still up and kept up is that bitcoin price has gone up which makes the multiplication bigger otherwise it is getting dumped real hard.

Correlative but not causative. More likely people were just buying up alts with their bitcoins after the mild BU panic, causing selling pressure and the false value increase in the alts. But as people recover their wits (and of course the temptation of getting back more bitcoins with those inflated alt prices) they've restored their holdings in bitcoin and the price has returned to pre-pump stages.

Come on, look around better. They are busy telling how good Litecoin just became. Sleeping giant, $50 or more, .. does it ring any bells?
Guess what's going to get dumped next?

On a more serious note Bitcoin is indeed recovering and altcoin scene knows it well that Bitcoin pump usually means that altcoins are dumped. That's why people are not so scared.

heh....well LTC is UNDERvalued imho..so lets say we meet in the middle at $10 LTC?  (at 4000mh of pow scrypt ltc mining works for me)

Anyway following your logic...LTC would be the flip side of your pump side :)

(unicorns falling from the sky...LTC at $8.66 wtf) :)

Bitcoin is getting stronger, but ETH hasn't really fallen very much.  It's still on about $46, which is not that far behind where it's been sitting for about a week (about $50-55, it may have reached higher very briefly but its main point was around there).  I think ETH's dump will take a little while as a lot of people actually had faith in it due to manipulation from whales which is making its price increase somewhat more sustainable (although not fully).

DASH, on the other hand, was blatantly a pump from the start and only idiots put their money in it actually expecting it to be the new Bitcoin.  There's still legitimate support for Litecoin, which is a better coin than any of the main hyped ones, and I think it's great that Litecoin's price is rising as it shows a (slight) move to more stable altcoins.

Ethereum is very strong, sitting only couple dollars below its ATH, so the claim that it lost 40% value is over exaggerated.
Other altcoins are being pumped and dumped like usual when one dump is ending another pump is starting, nothing special.
It is actually nice to see strong support for Litecoin due to SegWit signalling and DogeCoin is rising like crazy - probably because that project which will merge Doge's and ETH's blockchains.

you have a point but talking about altcoins and their USD value is a bit silly when they are not really being traded against USD. checking the daily volumes during pumps or during the down times you can clearly see that the alt/USD market doesn't even make the top 10 volume and they pump it with alt/BTC and in downtime everyone trades alt/BTC

however when it is being dumped you can see ETH whales put up buy walls in USD market and keep the price up with everything in their power. check out the orderbooks to see this. and that makes the alt/USD volume go higher but it is still not as high as alt/BTC

Even if there's a rumor that some altcoin may increase it's value, you should sell it as fast as possible

Almost all Altcoin including bitcoin has become highly manipulative.
Now as btc is rising, others are falling but do not be surprised if this reverse again.
ETH and Dash can be pumped again once their price fall to convinent level for those manipulators.

I expected the dash dump, once squeezed out, would make quite a splash. So much of its supply is tied up in masternodes.

All alts have been going on the red but we have a clear winner: LTC.

It has been going up along with BTC which makes it a solid pick.

XRP is going to collapse sooner or later and we will see an higher LTC price.

You can only expect pump and dump from alt coin, the price won't be stable, because people only used it for trading, there is not much you can do with alt coin, so it is reasonable to see the price fall down quickly, it is still far away from alt coin to replace bitcoin, unless bitcoin really forked, if bitcoin really forked then maybe alt coin can compete with bitcoin

And for the record, people don't like to show off when they are losing money

Title: Re: Where is everyone?

this is why you don't ever keep altcoins for long term. you always invest in them for a short term investment otherwise this is what you get out of them, DUMP!

but for short term they are very good, you can expect big profits. and yeah there are lots of spam from bagholders wanting to show their altcoin as a good one so that more people come buy their sell orders! we need to learn to dump before they do to get our profit out.

What makes LTC a good thing that people will suddenly pay attention towards it? if there is anything good and useful in it then why didn't people start to accumulate last year or 2 years ago? it is obvious that there is no fresh money being injected but rather funds are moving from bitcoin into altcoins and again from altcoins back to bitcoin, there is however some money around $2B which is fresh and staying with ETH and I think that is still some whales manipulating and causing hype to exit sharply.
What do you think will happen if all the LTC holders keep holding and refuse to sell under $40? do you really think investors willing to pay that much per coin? bitcoin holders refused to sell at $800-$900 and because of the real demand and strong community with positive thinking price increased, sellers demanded much higher prices and buyers were paying and right now if sellers stay stubborn and insist on price only above $1200 you'll see how market will react and people will start to pay that much.

How much do you think the community is willing to pay for LTC with more than 50M coins already mined?

Rumour is rumour and there's no strong reason of believing it but you can just do some further analyzation instead, just wonder why people keep on believing other people's mouth whereas they have secret agenda behind their very movement. Just wake up guys, there's no immortal pumping, everything will have its point of time to be either pumped hard or dumped hard, but honestly, would prefer holding altcoin for short term, just my 2 cents LOL

Altcoin has always been developed in tandem with bitcoin, though it does not have the capacity to compete well. However, bitcoin interfaces are difficult, particularly when the bitcoin is branched just enough of time, the altcoins show us the strength of it, it is quite capable of competing with bitcoin, and if Bitcoin backwards, it will be overtaken by the altcoins, ETH is a concrete example. Bitcoin can be a core currency, but it also needs to grow continuously.

BU has been dead, and from now on, everyone is calm, everything is back to normal. Now, the price of bitcoin posted soaring, I think everyone who sold the bitcoin when it was split, they sure are very regret it. That is their consequence of not believing in bitcoin. I've lost faith in it, however, I am still calm and considering the information, and I have decided to keep btc for myself, and now I am reaping the success of the right choice.

Seem to be pretty reasonable gains too, not like DASH for example...

Litecoin also seems to be one of the least innovative coins, pretty similar to Bitcoin.

stop listening to the lies told by altcoin pumpers and stick to bitcoin.
I never attempt to buy dash ever because from the start I knew it was Pump and dump only, my reason what does Dash did in terms of the project? It was just hyped only to catch and get the interest of others to invest their coins. And now as we can we see ti was totally crushed down 60%. And its too impossible that bitcoin can be replace by some of the altcoin now. :)

Meh, never really cared about those altcoins I only considering altcoins to make a short time profile quickly. BTC was being dumped only because of BU and hard fork now that it looks little calm in that section, bitcoin is rising again.
Even how many times they've tried to dumped it, still bitcoin prevails to overcome it. And people in bitcoin world is becoming more aggressive to use it because they don't want bitcoin disappear and of course we don't want that to be happen to the bitcoin enthusiast. So the present price value now of bitcoin was  1161$ which is  recovering stage to resume the value to 1300$, hope it will continue to rise up. ;)

I think things will be harder for Ethereum when the coin changes the consensus algorithm to proof-of-stake. I think many supporters will migrate to ETC, but only if the market is willing to ignore the fundamental flaws that exist in it.

Down from when? And bitcoin price is going up again so that is normal when it happens for everything else to crash. Because bitcoin is one of the few coins with long term value and people were in other currencies so they could put them back into bitcoin.

I was never really into any altcoins but I take a look at them every now and then.
What I noticed is coins which come in with a lot of noise/developer promises start to gain value and people get interested into them. But the final result is that after some time they start to lose value gradually.

And then there is the other type of coins which never grow OR grow but really slow that won't make it get anywhere anytime soon.
So apparently yes Bitcoin once and for all.
I really can't get the fact that some developer/human believed that he could drive the public into his coin.

do you think there will be no ore chance for it to pump so soon?

Yes I am very pleased that I stayed all the way to bitcoin and never doubted it.
I have seen a lot of discussion into which you could be persuade to sell your bitcoin and they even made false news just so you might believe it. Like telling when altcoins is getting pumped bitcoin will go down.
If that is the case then we can all be rich here. We all know what would happen so why not go with it. It is an easy money if it could be predicted just like that.
There will be a lot more that will happen just like this. I hope others have seen it and will not doubt bitcoin next time.

There will be no migration and if there were some it is only temporary and out of fear and panic that bitcoin may crash due to the prevailing problems at hand. But since the price of bitcoin started again to increase those who transferred to the other coins are now slowly going back to bitcoin again. Bitcoin has again proven itself to be strong amidst crisis and that is one thing we should put in our minds.

Is there any specific reason why Litecoin is suddenly gaining again after months of being pretty stable?
Seem to be pretty reasonable gains too, not like DASH for example...

Litecoin also seems to be one of the least innovative coins, pretty similar to Bitcoin.

it is actually very innovative and has good features, and it is activating Segwit too. and it is a lot better than ethereum and dash.
but litecoin is also being pumped these days and LTC and XRP now replaced Dash and ETh pump with their pumps.

do you think there will be no ore chance for it to pump so soon?

pump soon, no way but dead cat bounces, yes.
for another pump eth has to bottom out and then they have to accumulate again on the very bottom and then after 6 months pump it again.

I totally agree with you in fact i was totally aware of this pump strategy and even though i didn't have so many funds but the profit i got was satisfying. I do agree some idiots thought this price was permanent but didn't realise as the price of dash and eth was increasing btc price was decreasing. But at the end of the day it was fun.

It is easy to show daily movements and show shocking numbers.

What's more schocking is when you compare Jan 1st prizes with current prizes and realize both are still well over +400%.

Data is easily manipulated by the way you show it.

do you know why? they are focusing on xrp and its protocol as well as its features. Japan has accepted Bitcoin and it is the first step for Ripple to be accepted in the payment of this country. Try to follow the news on the internet and you will understand how the market will go

Those people just want money and profit so you can't blame them if they keep jumping into the hype because that is very normal for this kind of game where there is a lot of altcoin and there is only one original bitcoin. To be honest, i make a lot of profit because i believe to those hypers when ethereum was just ranging from 0.025-0.03, i bought a lot of eth in that time and sell it for 0.048 and i earn a lot of money but now i'm just observing for another hype. It is all about risk taking and creating money from other late hyper traders.

nobody is accepting ripple for anything and they never will, it is a centralized pump and dump altcoin with a huge supply and a little worth. as you can see the hype is over and the price has been falling pretty hard for the past 24 hours or so.
and what Japan said was bout the blockchain not ripple.
