Is he just paying to download files? If so that doesn't really seem like anything new or innovative.

The fact that you can sell your files or content for Bitcoin and will be able to monetize it, is pretty innovative for me.
AFAIK, there is no other service which is allowing you to do that now.

I wonder how Kim will solve the fact that bitcoin transaction fee is more than minimal price of a file you can buy from his service.

I had started to think that megaupload project went over the radar or gone, its good news, the project is getting live, and once again all people will be able to get an extra source of income, about the fees im pretty sure the system will get a minimum payment to avoid the big fees around or will work with multiple payments at once like poloniex does make soo split the fees between the multiple payouts.

That is right, I think that is the problem that must be solve first, or they will not get any profit from these project. I think they need to have a good file or a minimum pay out so the costumers will not abuse the files that are not really worthy of getting paid. If the price is not really profitable, the costumers just can add another file so the bitcoin that will be sent is proffitable for the both sides including the fees.

I think this idea will be abused by many users all over the world. And I think if they are paying for these files, the fess are much worse. The fees on bitcoin transactions are really high that is why if they want to pay for these files, they need to minimum a price every file, so there will some profit from it.

The mockup video screams troll to me. I have a feeling that bitcache is going to be very underwhelming and overall be worthless. I dont trust Kim at all to deliver a decent project and I think people are getting fooled by his hype.

Doesn't he know how to use screen recorder software?

His IPO/merger/whatever was already rejected by Canadian authorities, how long until the FBI busts his operation again?

as i said before, it is hard to say how this project of his is going to affect bitcoin. it looks cool, and interesting but also there are some stuff that i don't get.
you are filesharing, and mostly "pirating" and asking for payment? how is that going to work! and there will be a lot of lawsuit against it if it gets some traction.

and besides have we forgotten that there is torrent and it is free and awesome? :)

I think this is going to be fun to watch.

It will be a real race. KIM vs FBI, catch me if you can.

I think Kim did not think about it or he really wants to be arrested.

Bitcache had successfully got around 1 million $ on crowdfunding https://bnktothefuture.com/pitches/megaupload-2-bitcache

Are they still looking to raise more with another IPO/Merger?

Kim Dotcom’s Bitcache Stopped from Raising Extra $12m at Last Moment
A planned merger with a publicly listed Canadian company valuing Bitcache at $100 million was derailed by the exchange.

if they can get the privacy part of it right and don't lead to many privacy concerns and then if it introduces more people to bitcoin i think this can be a good thing.
all the shady stuff apart, this has been a nice advertisement for bitcoin so far. specially with the tweet about $2000 and rise.

Hate the guy or love him, I've benefited from his past projects and still continue to do so... yes even if he has recently distanced himself with Mega, he still gave us one of the first encrypted free storage, so credit due.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before he also moved on to content delivery and cryptocurrency. Whether it succeeds or not is another issue, but surely more likely to be longer term than the majority of ICOs here!

I follow Kim Dotcom on twitter, he's an interesting character.

He was treated unfairly when megaupload was shut down.

The cost to the US government to store the contents of megaupload servers was astronomical.

Wish I could remember what the exact numbers were. They were pretty crazy.

Court cases bankrupted Kim. Its nice to see him making a comeback.

He's slowly becoming something like a Julian Assange type figure.

Kim Dotcom has the skills to make things work at mainstream level. He may not be the best coder, but he is an huge influencer, knows how to sell, knows how to hire the right people. I think this can push the bitcoin price to $2000 alone if their off-chain payments system works.

I guess for the same reason OpenBazaar is still operational.  ;) .... You can host a service that distributes "legal" content and you can have a

ToS stating that the service should not be used to distribute copyrighted material. If he has some moderation that monitor and manage the

illegal content, he would be covered. The aim of the whole thing should not be to monetize distribution of copyrighted content, because it would be

shut down, if it was.  ;)

this is either a great idea and will be a huge thing, as in a revolution to file sharing and bitcoin micropayment

or

it will be a terrible thing bringing only misery and a lot of illegal shit-storm for Kim and possibly even some of the people who use it.

i have not yet figured out which one is more possible to happen!
