Title: UTXO and POW meaning
Post by: Black Arrow on April 23, 2013, 07:25:35 PM
In browsing some of the development posts I repeatedly come across these acronyms, but I haven't seen any definitions either here or on the wiki. I gather that UTXO means something like the total blockchain. Does anyone know what these acronyms stand for?

UTXO: Unspent Transaction-Out. Those are the important parts of the blockchain that indicate coins that are currently held by a given address. Spent transaction-outs maintain the history of those "active" coins.

POW: Proof-of-work (or prisoner of war  :P )

I haven't defined UTXO yet, but I've got POW broken down in a simple definition at:

Would appreciate your feedback on this. Decryptionary is my passion project, it's got 200+ definitions, walkthroughs to help you participate and more.
