Title: Qu: Can I use my graphics card for my monitor and mine on it?!
Post by: Plan3tBob on April 23, 2013, 08:18:19 PM
Hi,

Can you mine using a GFX card at the same time as use it for the primary display?

Since my miner is failing to start it in GPU mode it left me wondering if this was why (note that CPU mode works fine... just expectidly s.l.o.w).

p.s. I have googled tons on this and now have registered to ask.  :)

Many thanks,
Bob

Yes, you can use your card and monitor at the same time.

What card and settings?

your GPU can work while also powering a monitor but you'll get lower results than without

I really appreciate you answering as it helps me look in the right area!  8)

The gfx card in question is an AMD 5450... a tiny card, however I'd still like to utilise it.

When I choose the GPU it just sits there saying "Please wait" forever, however when I tick CPU instead of GPU then it runs on my CPU fine.

I'm using 50Miner and installed the suggested AMD drivers.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Bob
