Not to mention I'm not too happy with the gaming 5 mobo.  The killer Ethernet software. On two separate boards wiped out my entire network. Took me days of troubleshooting to locate that that was the issue. Talk about a headache. The fix is on their forum but they have yet to acknowledge it.  I've been fighting a mix rig with power colors xfx and sapphire. Been almost two weeks and I've yet to get it to run 24 hours. It too is on a gaming 5 mobo.  Got some biostars headed my way. Need to figure out if it's the mobo or a bad vid card. I'll losing hair and going grey. This isn't helping that one bit😜  Hope ya get your problem solved asap

First off. To say they sell bad gpus is fine.

But. Which one

The rx 470 4gb armor?
The rx 470 8gb armor?
The rx 480  4gb armor?
The rx 480  8gb armor?

The rx 470 4gb gamer ?
The rx 470 8gb gamer?
The rx 480 4gb gamer?
The rx 480 8gb gamer?

I owned no armor cards.
I owned every red led gamer more then forty they were pretty much flawless.
I still have nine rx 480 8gb gamers.

At Heinz I am not a fan of their mobos.

I have had the eth corded lan crash my house at times

Yea it really had me stumped. I'm back at this one problem rig now. I think I'm coming to the conclusion it's either the mobo or a bad powercolor red devil 8gb card. When it begins mining it starts out at 300 h/s then quickly falls to 250. Then bsod. I'm at my wits end with this thing. Hopefully my biostar tb85's arrive at a decent time today. I'll test all my cards in it and see what's up. This mobo is the first one to wipe out my network.  Then just last night a second one did the same thing. I'm beginning to think that they don't like 6 cards. I couldn't ever get it to boot with 7. Never would post. Gave up

I second re red cards. Out of 14 MSI gaming RX 470 I own/owned, only one was screwy, but from the get go and I bought it as an open box anyway. since 470 are so good in both eth/zec, i never bothered with 480.

Where are you buying TB85s?
newegg shows out of stock.
All my H97 anniversaries were fine, where the heck are those, too?
Sometimes I think that manufacturers do not know what to put out in quantity.
they produce a lot of mobos nobody really uses, yet having difficulty producing those in demand.

I remember reading that there is a fix to inability to post 7 cards, but did not research it.
i was about to buy gaming 5, will hold off now.
thanks.

At least it's defective from the beginning, and part of the VRM doesn't blow up instead bringing the whole rig down.
The image proxy of the forum hates huge threads, so I can't find the post itself, but somebody uploaded a picture of it:

The problem is the lack of at least a single reliable manufacturer. Almost every series of cards in the past few years had blowing up VRM: 7000 series Gigabytes, 300 series Sapphire, and now 400 series MSI.

Bought mine a few days back from Amazon. They are all sold out too now. There was one left from deep in the mines on eBay. But I'll bet it's gone aswell. I pd 100 and some change. eBay one was going for a buck fifty. The msi boards are outrageously priced. I pd 100 pc for those. Now they going for minimum double I've seen as high as 400. Supply and demand I guess. Sucks that's for sure.

Is there a way to check the serial number etc to see if the cards were produced at the same time/ location?
Maybe there is a bad batch with some defective part/ soldering etc.

so i figured out what was the problem with my msi mobo..  Something wasnt playing nice with the sapphire 480's.   just installed them into the biostar and voila they work like a charm.  Cant figure that one out.  Put the 2 powercolor and 4 xfx on the msi.. and it mined thru the night.  Idk what the issue could have been.  Ill be starting a new thread in next couple days.  got a project ive been working on.  Would have been done sooner had this msi worked out days ago.  Ive gutted some wiibox a1 bitcoin miners and retrofitted the case to accommodate the 6 vid cards. mobo will have to mount outside on the lid but that shouldnt be a problem.   Should prove useful come this summer.  Hoping i can get the first one built in next couple days.
