I prefer lending here as it's fairly low risk with good returns, and it isn't filled with scammers that can actually get a loan. Poloniex lending is also really good because the risk is extremely low, but the returns are low too to reflect that. I would avoid Bitbond and BTCJ because there is a huge amount of defaults and having their ID doesn't help that much for getting your money back.

There's a guy that defaulted 80+ BTC on BTCJam and other similar sites, and he still isn't in legal trouble IIRC.

I thought BTCjam has closed? They froze new loan requests and there have been no new listings since early February? Have they opened again?

Anyway, voted for direct loans here on bitcointalk.
I've been checking out this board for some months now, looking at the guidelines, collaterals, loan requests, defaults, and payments.
It's certainly better than the alternative sites.
Loaning here is one of my choices for investment, it's just that, alt collaterals are too few and I'm not too keen on account collaterals, so still just looking.

I also vote for the direct loans here, on BTCtalk.
I have tried to lend on other lending service sites, like the 2 you mention, but i didn't get what i expected.
Too risky and to easy to default, even if the sites gets paperwork, ID's etc.

I believe that here, it's harder to lend but with better results. Still, you need a lot of time spending here to achieve that.
Lending on Polo, it's something different imho...Nice poll btw Op!

I've heard about that and the guy just sat there mocking both investors and btcjam. Sucks though. There is real ways to validate users and get money back but they are going the cheap route while pocketing the profits. I do agree though. While its harder here the risk can be low if you know what youre doing, and many do profit from lending to other users here. Honestly, I prefer direct than those P2P sites. I may try again if there is something out there that really works but tbh almost every one of them dont care about the investors, only the fee they get from the loan before the borrower pay us back.

Yeah, it's margin trading.  A lot of exchanges have it.

Pretty much all lending services are going to be pretty risky, so the important thing is not to loan all your money at once, but the problem is that you can't make a lot of profit from a small loan so you have to have a pretty large starting capital.

The problem is that the chance of defaulting on these loans is huge because if you do a long term loan they'll have to pay back the loan plus the hugely increased price of Bitcoin, which makes them very likely to fail even if they're not trying to scam you.  On Bitbond, loans are usually denominated in USD, which means that with 13% interest rates per year you're going to fall way behind the Bitcoin price rises in earnings, which makes your loans meaningless and potentially they could dig into the profit you would have made from HODLing.

Other.

I'd rather lend my bitcoin to FreeBitco.in for their 4% annual interest.

Why?
  • They are significantly established bitcoin business, that is LOW RISK
  • They pay their interest payments daily
  • There's no lock in period, I can recall my loaned funds at any time I want

It's the best option for those that don't want to worry about lender profiles and locked in loan periods!

Are you trying to promote them in a sugar coated way ? It's not called lending when you don't have a collateral or any hope your money will ever come back to you.I'd rather say it's another Ponzi/Hyip scheme. As long as the voting options,I choose bitcointalk members. There are no rules, community busts decides whether you should be given loan or not.

No I promote them in a realistic way.

And loans are offered all the time without collateral, they're called unsecured loans. (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/u/unsecuredloan.asp (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/u/unsecuredloan.asp))

FreeBitco.in isn't offering a ponz/hyip scheme. It's a very basic service offered in the fiat world, and a very new concept in the bitcoin world. I think  it's fantastic...and I'm trying to spread the word.

For those of you looking to lend your money out, if you're getting f*cked over on the higher-risk borrowers, consider FreeBitco.in as a low risk borrower and the return you get aligns with that risk.

This option isn't listed. So why run this cheap plug for the company site. You own it or you are on its payroll?

BTW, OP it will be better you add a link to each of the sites you listed so that voters may have a peep at their sites before voting in case they haven't heard of them before now.

:)
I will never use any of the two sites for the lon and lending Because these sites are fraud .
My one of friend got scammed by the btcjam , one person hacked the account of my friend and made a loan of bitcoin 1k$ , when my friend asked the btcjam , then they said that the IP is same that was usual for you to use and Secondly after that no reply by the btcjam support that is totally a bullshit thing for my friend .
Here I myself making money from lending my bitcoin and altcoins at the Poloniex exchange ( like dash , eth , xrp )
The Poloniex like exchange gives us the fascility for the marginal trading which gives us the profit through the lending bitcoin and other altcoin which is totally safe for us to use .

That is a fair statement. I didn't want to be spammy.

If people haven't heard of them before, probably not best that they vote.

This is a fair point. My intent was not to derail the original discussion.
