Title: Safety concerns
Post by: ahtopahtel on June 17, 2011, 09:17:00 PM
Hello people.

I joined in to test out the bitcoin mining since i do like tecnical challenges and such.

For now i've had a few questions regarding safety of the programs we use and the system itself. I am not trying to start a fight, if somebody can answer these questions it would calm me down :) .

1) Im currently in slushes pool and using the GUIMINER on windows xp and windows 7. how is it controlled that the pool host wont take over my computer, since the GUIMINER has to connect to the host constantly?

2) as i understand, the blocks are using 256 bit encryption algorythms, what happens after a block is mined, do i keep it or is it sent back to the pool?

3) how do we know we arent participating in some granch scheme to break encryption algorythms to aid some dark and scary corporation who wants to take over the world?

More questions to come as they arrive, im a paranoid freak.

A

Well it's all open source. So you just have to trust that if there was anything mailicious in there that some smart guy who read the source code would alert the community to it.
