Post by: mewhoyou on April 09, 2017, 02:28:53 AM
Please share your configuration and screen capture on Gigabyte G1 4GB RX 470

Bounty : 3 to 5 ETH depending on output.

Currently achieving 27.5MH with 75w

Looking for best configuration with lowest Energy

Try minergate there you can set intesitivy. You will then know what best is configuration.

I got this card also. Running at 28MH/s and from the wall it uses like 130 Watts. Undervolted -100mV.

i am averagely getting 27.3 to 27.8 at 95 Watts from the wall with no undervolt. 28MH/s with that energy consumption would not be what i am looking for. If it was like 29.5MH/s with 130Watt then i would. I actually managed to get average 30.5 MHs but the error was too high for my acceptance at 110Watt of the wall.

Still hoping to have some assistance with custom rom editing.

95w in Gpu-z no ? :D
Thats awesome if from wall, whole computer about 155w ?

27.8MH/s using 95 Watts from wall is not possible. That's like 3.4W/MHS. The best I've seen with the RX series is like 4W/MHS but that's with a 8GB and Platinum PSU.

And especially impossible without an undervolt. You are probably not measuring it correctly.

I really think that they are talking about GPU-Z measures.
Otherwise i wanna know their secret, because my number are way worse than theirs

adaseb, that card has def. mem 1650mhz ?
Im planning in buying a few, is it working ok? How much can you push the mem?

(68.3 + ~40 ) = 108.3 W + min. 40w for motherboard = total 148w

No, it cant be 95w from wall, im sorry.
Even a photo wouldn't convince me.

:) this is just an example from the few rigs I have running ... no one in the right mind would mine with just two cards. This is my daily pc. Each of my full time rigs are running 6 cards each.

( 68 x 6 ) + 120 riser + 55 system = X
X / 6 = 90 - 95.

My AMP meter has the same value at 2.35 to 2.42a.

If your riser is taking up 40w then I would recommend you change another brand as it will surely melt any of the power cable. It is taking 60% value of a graphic card.

Not very efficient running at 40w just to power up a riser.

Whatever value you have shown in the GPU-Z, add 44 Watts and thats your exact true power consumption.

The 44 Watts is what I measured with my current amp meter and its what's being consumed by the PCIe slot. The power is always constant at 44 Watts whether you are solo ETH, dual ETH, overclocked, undervolted, underclocked, etc its because its what powers the AUX and Memory controller. The 8 pin PCIe is what powers the GPU core.

40w in my math is what adaseb wrote 44w, the value in gpu-z is not the real w, its just the gpu, approx you have to add 40-45w to what you see in gpu-z, and that's only the video card.
40-50w for the mobo, hdd with one card idle.
If you have 6 cards on the mobo then it's about 120-130w for the mobo and idle cards.

LoL ... you can go faster my dear countrymen (OP)

just do your homework & test

just don't really get it, lowest power & fastest speed .. just go as high as possible, if power is really a concern then you shouldn't be mining.

do the math, low power does NOT mean 1 is saving power. hashrates from dual mining vs power used & work out the profitability, i think my math tells me max + dual mining is ahead. ah by looking at your gpuz you will have more of a temp issue instead of power imo.

btw, there's no more or just few left of this GPU in local market, well, i do have a bunch of them.

simple rule of thumb, you want more hash from gpu, give it more power = more work, less power less work.

just find the balance.

i'd assume the power consumption is NOT accurate from you. go get a killawatt of even better a clamp meter n go clamp then come back n ask.

with 31 Celcius in an environment without Air condition, you need to stretch as much as you can from the system. Limitation to 60a circuit breaker on each line, i am able to achieve 15 sets and maxed out at 45 rigs. Power management is very crucial for my setup. Not to forget it still have to provide some juice to the rest of the building for daily operations :)

I am already pushing all my rigs to 80c to 89c...

The figures I am producing is from a clamp meter :)

I do agree that the riser requires juice but 44w for each riser is just rediculous. I am only drawing 20w to 25w for mine. You need to check your source and change manufacture as 44w per riser alone is too high.

I setup my rigs with one card full load was 160w off the wall. Then i added an additional card at the metered showed 240w to 250w and never exceeding 250w. When i added all six my energy on the wall showed 600w to 650w.

That's why I am asking if there is anyone that could produce with a custom strap or bios modification to achieve higher result with the current energy requirement.

I've seen people slightly modify 1500 strap to be able to achieve greater memory clock. 1150/2040 for 28+ MH/s and slightly higher power consumption.

I've got 18 Gigabyte 4GB RX470 (Hynix) and 6 Gigabyte 8GB RX480 (Samsung). Since I don't have to pay for electricity, I managed to push RX470 with 1500 strap and 1280/2000 to about 28 MH/s. Stable.

I can guarantee you that there is not a single 470/480 out there that uses 25watts of power thru the riser. Any 6 PIN GPU usually uses about 45-70 Watts from the PEG connector.

The only GPU that I measured that used 25watts from the PEG connector was a ASUS 7970 which had 2x8pin slots to get most of its power from.

The Gigabyte G1 uses 44Watts from the PEG
The MSI 470 4GB uses 60 Watts from the PEG
The MSI 370 OC uses 70 Watts from the PEG

PEG = PCIe slot power / riser power

So, you wanna say that my G1 uses ~40W from Extender out of ~90W total power? What about cards connected via only cable riser?

Yes the RX series use like 45-60Watts to power the memory and aux. This doesn't come from the PCIe 6/8 pin connectors but slot, its the way they are designed.

because time average current can be some 20% lower from the truth...

Try minergate there you can set intesitivy. You will then know what best is configuration.

I want to know more about minergate working and which graphics card will be best for working with minergate. I am currently working through CPU there which can not give me much handsome income, so please suggest me the good one. i have core2quad with 4gb ram.

It's a noob trap, use actual miner. Also, "handsome income" with cpu mining is long way gone.
