Title: Burning out Video cards Post by: Frankthetank on April 24, 2013, 09:58:07 AM Hi All,
I have an HD 6770 (powercolor 800/1200) mining LTC which runs rather hot: 143kh @ 95 Cel 210kh @ 104 Cel I have run it at 210kh 24/7 for a couple of weeks without issue but am a touch worried so have since dropped it to 143kh. Has anyone had similar temps/failures? Have searched pretty hard for documented failures at high temps but haven't found much. My main rigs run 7950's so this card is really just experimental and am tempted to just run it at 210kh to see how it goes (have had a couple years gaming out of the card already). Power consumption is more or less proportional to the hash rate. Anyone have any experience with wrecking cards in this fashion? Title: Re: Burning out Video cards Post by: Mogumodz on April 24, 2013, 12:22:21 PM I have a 5770 and had the same kind of problem, I dropped the GPU clock to 700 from 850 which was at (90'c) and now it's (75'c) all day long with only a few MH drop.
Title: Re: Burning out Video cards Post by: Frankthetank on April 24, 2013, 12:36:10 PM Yeah I'm currently under clocked at 700 as the hash rate drop was very small and it did lower the temp by 3 cel. I've tried a wide variety of oc combos (and miner configs) and generally there is very little change in temp, it simply runs hot at its best hash output.

Board is still running great but maybe I am just lucky its still working. I would recommend adding some extra flags to your miner. I use F 90 -w 128 and it's kept the load off of 100% which helps keep it slight cooler. Only lost 2-3 Mhash/s |
