Title: Im looking to mine a bit would a raspberry pi rig give a decent amount of money. Post by: WeedSmoker420 on April 10, 2017, 11:50:23 PM So I was thinking about mining bitcoin as just a fun thing to do. And the cheapest way for me to do that would be to use a raspberry pi and USB miners. I was thinking if I got at least 3 USB miners it would supply a decent amount of money. I'm asking would it be a good mining rig?

Odds are youre probably not going to make a fortune overnight with a raspberry pi. it would provide a good experience with new hardware, but expect less than a penny per month in revenue, profit is practically impossible at this point. Post by: Berau on April 12, 2017, 10:18:05 AM if you don't want to spend much, but still want to learn something, and return your investment at some point, you will need to spend at least 100-200$ on a used GPU, MBO and CPU, hook it all up, choose a coin to mine, Ether for instance, later you can trade it on Poloniex for instance for Bitcoin, or simply sell it as it is on Coinbase or the like

RX 470s usually cost around 130 bucks and combined with a cheap LGA1150 and celeron G1840/ Pentium processor as well as 2-4G of ram, you've got yourself a very small rig which can be easily upgraded. ROI would come after a year or so, maybe less, depends what GPU you choose and the Price and difficulty progress of the coin Yes, R9 300s and R7 300s still work well, but I'd suggest going with the newer RX series or waiting for Vega. The R9 390s crap all over the RX series cards depending on the coin but use quite a bit more power. I am getting about 270 sol out of an RX470 and 330 out of my R9 390x mining zcash. Ethereum the difference is not as much. The 390 gets about 3 mh over the 470.
