Title: Smartphones are vital to bitcoin growth
Post by: HarringtonStark on April 12, 2017, 03:18:05 AM
More and more people are using smartphones thanks to budget friendly mid-rangers, almost anyone can now afford to buy a smartphone.

Mobile payment is becoming more common and it is an opportunity to acquaint people more into using bitcoin . Mobile payment will eventually replace credit cards or at least will make them less mainstream. An example  of this is Apple Pay. Bitcoin smartphone wallet  apps are to use when you have a transaction, you just scan a qr code and the transaction is done though will take some time to be confirmed.

Bien dit. Well said. Apple Pay is the mainstream trying to adopt the crypto fever in a controlled fashion. The best possible result would be for as many people to accept cryptocurrency as possible to initiate it into the real world.

except that Apple Pay doesn't cost you $1 every time you use it and doesn't take 10+ minutes (or possibly hours) for your payment to process.... what merchant is going to let you walk out of a shop with $20 worth of goods hoping the payment will go through sometime in the next hour or so?

On the other hand, Apple Pay is also centralised and doesn't provide even pseudo anonymity.

Bitcoin is fast moving away from being a viable solution for every day payments toward being useful only as a method of storing wealth. It is likely to get even further away in the future as block rewards get halved and transaction fees increase even more.

The days of shifting bitcoins around for pennies are long gone... unless you want to wait.

if you are paying $1 for bitcoin transaction fee that means you have been accumulating a lot of dust in your wallet. go learn what transaction size in byte is and how it becomes big then come back.

right now fee for a normal transaction the highest fee is 40 US cents

there is a very simple risk assessment that a simple code can do, you can even use an online tool such as blockcypher to do it for you.
a merchant doesn't have to worry about transaction with normal amount of fee, with no unconfirmed parent and no other shenanigans.

and they are accepting bitcoin payment before confirmation.

Agreed, that is definitely the future. But the point of slow transaction is also valid, bitcoin has to come up with something better to cope with it so it can be more popularized in the general people and business world.
I this this could be the only or the biggest hurdle standing in bitcoin's way for now.

for sure that can be resolved in no longer time, and OP's statement really matters regarding to bitcoin evolution if more and more people who do treat bitcoin for their transaction with the help of mobile devices it will be much easier and business owners will start recognizing the system and integrate their business for much faster and easy ways to deal with clients/customers.

Smartphones as you said, are becoming more like a one of the common goods, most of people have bought it because they are not so expensive nowadays.

But people may use also just regular wallets like blockchain.info or other web wallets, you can login on them through browser at mobile.

I have to say that QR codes for bitcoin are very useful, it would be very frustrating to type the address directly one by one, when you can just scan the QR code and have no problem with that.

Paying in the malls or stores with bitcoin makes sense only when you can access it through your mobile phone.

Smartphones are a big help to bitcoin growth and visibility but are NOT vital to it. Bitcoin is doing well from mining, and other major uses that has been discussed thousand times here like watching porn with bitcoin without revealing details and gambling with it in an anonymous way. These are the 2 major industries that are vital for bitcoin growth in my opinion but I also agree that smartphones will help a lot a few years from now when hopefully they will be more secure (Android OS full of malware and viruses if you don't know what you are doing).

Correct, smartphone is the other way which we could use in earning bitcoin, if we don't have a laptop. So how come that it is vital to bitcoin? I think it depends on the person on where he is going to use his smart phone, whether for bad thing or for good thing, and watching porn using bitcoin is not vital, it is normal since we do have our needs, what is wrong is if we are going abuse bitcoin by using it on the illegal things here on the internet.

Not only are smartphones essential, all the technological devices used to access the internet are essential things that are needed for the development of bitcoin. Bitcoin is a product of technology, so it attaches new internet networks. If the internet no longer works, bitcoin and all other virtual currencies will become worthless. Bitcoin is the symbol for convenience and speed in transactions, you can implement it wherever you like. That's why we all choose it.

A lot of people without access to a bank have a smartphone.

I think not all of them, ever since bitcoin flurish and starts to become a virtual currency, people used to store their bitcoin into their android wallets. After that, they think they can't withdraw their bitcoin coverted fiats without a bank account. So they started using android bitcoin wallets to store bitcoin, pay some bills, and the bank to store their fiats that cane from bitcoin.

The modern world requires a lot of things, dealing with the phone is a very convenient and indispensable thing. Most smartphones are now smartly designed and full of features to cater to our business. Bitcoin uses internet data system, so smartphone can help us to make transactions easily. It is more convenient and easier than we would use a computer.

A lot of the cultures that use bitcoin as a working technology, don't even own laptops.. For the countries with weak banking systems or a low general level of capitalization, the phone is the primary method for Internet banking. An excellent example of this is MPesa. The whole of the interface is mobile, and it is used more extensively than banks.

But we have to try to make it more safer from attackers when we are using smartphone.

if you are paying $1 for bitcoin transaction fee that means you have been accumulating a lot of dust in your wallet. go learn what transaction size in byte is and how it becomes big then come back.

right now fee for a normal transaction the highest fee is 40 US cents

you realise that at current prices, USD$1 equates to a little over 0.0008 or 80,000 satoshis...  given the current recommended fee of 160sats/byte, that would equate to a transaction size of around 500 bytes... it would only need maybe 3 inputs to get a transaction size close to that...

Have you considered what happens when you start buying a bunch of everyday things with bitcoin? a coffee here, burger and fries there, a beer at the pub, your groceries... you're going to be generating an awful lot of change addresses and a lot of (possibly) dust amounts in these change addresses that will be spent at some point...

Besides, even if fees were "only" 40c/transaction...  last month i had something like 80 transactions during the month...  for those 80, my fiat bank charged $0... maybe you'd be happy with a $30/month transaction bill, but i know which one makes more economic sense.

The future of Bitcoin is not going to be buying coffee with your phone... not unless off-chain transactions become prevalent... which isn't really buying things with Bitcoin on your phone.

Smartphones are really affordable by almost anyone today. When we go out and travel we see that almost everyone is using a smartphoe and has an internet connections. If there is no smartphone then the travel and flooding of information will be lessen because we can only surf the web using laptop and desktop at home and at shops.

This growth have increased because we have the the handheld devices that provide us the digital information, the availability of the product, or information made our world smaller and made opportunities for us to learn more things on easier way. The problem is its on us if we want to learn that particular thing.

I have noticed that we witness a big boom of cryptocurrency related applications on mobile of all kinds.

I have found out many mobile wallets, some funny games where you collect virtual bitcoins, games which are basically a different kind of faucet, and mobile crypto trading applications.

All of that was made because of a simple reason, bitcoin may be used also through mobile phones, and it is even more comfortable to have access to your cryptocurrency at smartphone you always have with you.

Im still waiting for a company, which ships smartphones (obviously It needs to be possible to use BTC as a payment method).

It can contribute to the growth of bitcoin. Absolutely. I don't have problems with the used of our smartphones, however, I believed there are dangers associated with it, like hacking and stealing your bitcoin in your wallet.

I know that this will pave a way for a lot of people to used bitcoin as means of on-line payment. But this kind of scenario will also open up a lot of opportunity for criminals stealing bitcoin similar to what ransomware or copy/paste virus is doing to PC. Security will be the main concern for every individual who will used smartphones to do online transaction.

The growth of smartphone and internet access have definitely helped the bitcoin adoption. However, most of the un-banked people will not be able to pay for the high fee for each transaction!

For example, Coinbase if charging 300-500 bits per transaction which is equal to about USD $0.50... The fee itself may already equal to several meals for people in some poorer countries.

Yes I was gonna mention the security issues concerned with smartphones, it's true that comparatively storing btc on Pc is safer than on a smartphone. The easiest way to get around this is to just store what you need, a little amount of BTC on smartphone and the most of your btc on PC or in cold storage to be more safe.

Not only smartphones but other mobiles also helped to introduce several people from third world countries to Bitcoins, as they don't have access to computer and maybe internet at home and there are many places on cities where there is free wi-fi connection, like squares, malls, stores, snack bars, etc... You said it.  Bitcoin is already dead as a currency,  but people just refuse to bury its rotten, bloated corpse.  But on the other hand it's thriving as a means to gamble and as a way to save money.  Those aspects of it are far from dead.  As for the importance of smartphones, they're not so critical for those uses.

Believe me,  bitcoin just isn't going to replace fiat in the Starbucks line.

Indeed with smartphones we can transact Bitcoin anywhere we want. We can even send funds even when we are out with friends.  As long as internet is available, smartphones can do alot of things for us, specially in Bitcoin transfers.

Since smartphones are now part of our daily life, it is possible that smartphones will be used to utilize bitcoin's capability. Well I think this is already happening, right?

The banks today have their own apps that supports mobile payments, even for bitcoin. Some companies have apps for smartphones so that people can have transactions using mobile application. As a matter of fact, here in our country, Philippines, have a mobile application that supports mobile payment via bitcoin, it is called coins.ph. Its is very convenient. There is a direct conversion of bitcoin into fiat (Peso), you can also view the changes in  the value of bitcoin, and many more features. So basically, using smartphones for transactions via bitcoin is very convenient to every users.

And the best part is where you actually can hold millions of dollars in bitcoin in your mobile phone or in the clouds or both and go everywhere in the world with ease of mind without someone stops you in the airport. Even though apple alone has 4-6 times market cap as bitcoin and smart phone industry is 20 times more valuable than all the bitcoins yet blockchain has a more significant impact on our lives in the long term in the future than smart phones.

I don't think you will be able to use your smartphone to pay for your groceries/necessities in the foreseeable future ~5 years.
And that is probably the the most needed, serious usage of cryptocurrency we are waiting for - for other payments you don't need mobile access.
Also you guys overvalue smartphone revolution, some people are still not using smartphones, me included.

But the lack of smartphone is not really support bitcoin network environment, for example mobile wallet, also the security is not really guaranteed.

And the best part is where you actually can hold millions of dollars in bitcoin in your mobile phone or in the clouds or both

That's terrible idea, smartphone lack of security and use the clouds have a more chance you will be hacked.

I don't know exactly the date when smartphone is used to pay but I do remember that watching on a television advertisement. I hope the problem with the bitcoin transactions can be now solved so there will be no waiting after purchasing an item.

Even for bitcoin transaction you need not shell out $1 for every transaction, hope there will be lightning network in the future and i do not consider bitcoin as a currency that can be used on a daily basis instead i do consider it as an asset class with other capabilities if there are changes in the transaction speed then i might change my views.

except that Apple Pay doesn't cost you $1 every time you use it and doesn't take 10+ minutes (or possibly hours) for your payment to process.... what merchant is going to let you walk out of a shop with $20 worth of goods hoping the payment will go through sometime in the next hour or so?
On the other hand, Apple Pay is also centralised and doesn't provide even pseudo anonymity.

Make more secure wallets more viable and actually useful for mobile platforms that can't be modified at all by devs and then you have something that becomes a little bit more viable. Even then, most phones aren't really built to have the entire blockchain downloaded on their hardware.

It is possible to make Bitcoin a lot bigger through smartphones, but the technicalities of it are going to make it an interesting challenge for anyone who cares.

Smartphones indeed are a very important part of bitcoin.

It is so easy to scan a QR code and then voila, sending a transaction is literally as easy as pressing "send".

The beauty of bitcoin is that you can literally use it on any platform because the implementation is so easy, as the source code is open source. But smartphones are easy to carry around, making it easier for people to make transactions everywhere.

but in fact the majority is not able to afford the blockchain itself, so the alternate client will help growing the bitcoin growth without the problem of loading the blockchain. the original bitcoin wallet is almost a nightmare to me as i will have to download all the blockchain data IIRC.

I totally forgot.about the convenience of qrc codes and smart devices. It's a small PITA to use a webcam to scan a qrc, which are notoriously low resolution (for the rim mounted laptop.versions at least). Most semi decent smart phones have a more than passable camera attached; given the annoyance that a bitcoin address is, any bitcoin device someone is going to use practically.is.going to need a camera and a screen.

Two birds, one stone.

This is the biggest problem that Bitcoin is right now facing. This delay of transactions can cost Bitcoin a big chunk of its potential. Hopefully, the whole Bitcoin community can soon find an acceptable solution for this scaling problem. Right now, there is a raging disagreement among Bitcoin's technical people as how to solve this problem. It is because both sides are also bringing their own business interest and even greediness to the table. They should talk as one and come up with a viable solution. The more this problem is delayed the more that Bitcoin can lost its hard-to-establish momentum.

I agree and I hope they get to agree on a solution already that would benefit the whole system and not their own greedy asses. Some of them are really proposing a system that will only benefit themselves. That is the most common problem in the human societies. That is why progress is hindered.

It's a good idea though. People around the world always have a smartphone and if bitcoin upgrade their wallet for mobile, i'm sure many people will start using mobile payment. So they don't need to bring their wallet to pay. Actually mobile payment is really good inovation though, everyear our technology always update and upgrade and mobile payment is really suit on that.

Mobile payments are becoming more popular, that is true, and I'm sure that there is a place for bitcoins also. Mobile wallets are very handy and convenient but there is still the problem with number of merchants that accept bitcoins that are not so easy to find so for now bitcoin debit card stays the most reliable way you can spend your coins.

But not just smartphones, but phones in general.

People, are able to use even non-smartphones in rural areas because they don't have internet access. They can send a text message to a service that allows them to do bitcoin transactions without internet access, and then the service provider sends the bitcoin for them.

Phones are just so much more portable now than laptops or PCs.

don't compare a finished system of payment with an experimental one, which still need to grow, also any centralized system can't be compared to bitcoin

i would be glad to pay a little more to have my decentralization, which i find more important than anything else

I think this is a good sign that they also use bitcoin even they are in the rural places. They just need internet access which they have an average smartphone to be able to do transactions.

As of now I am just using my mobile phone when doing transactions.
Good part is it is  convenient. Wont need to go to the electric company just to pay my bills.
I will just use my phone with an internet and  Voila I can pay fast.
Website wallets are also creating their application so that people could just use their smart phones to trade bitcoin to USD or vice versa.

I do agree. Thanks to those who are selling smart phones at a lower price so that even those in rural places can afford even just one for the whole household.
It will still depend on the companies if they want their transactions be connected in one website wallet.
Philippines Coins.ph have made that possible for us. We can pay bills and other stuff like prepaid loading with their help. Their application gives comfort to those who dont have computers. This kind od service should be with all the website wallets if they want to make their companies popular. Easy to use and it is fast without a hassle in waiting for the line while paying.

Yep honestly the mobile app version of their Bitcoin Wallets is the one that really makes Bitcoin usage more practical compared to its desktop website. After all Smart Phone Bitcoin Wallet apps also has the the added picture of scanning the QR code of the Bitcoin address making it easier to pay without typing or copying the Bitcoin address (making you have a less chance of sending it to another by mistake). Also I think all of the cellphone holders now use smartphone as a lot of Chinese brands are having better technology yet cheaper priced products that are available through out the world.

In addition to these features, the handset offers you the convenience of anytime and anywhere, and it is also capable of maintaining your security, the phone is yours, if you are a caretaker. No kidney, no hacker has the ability to penetrate and rob your money. It is almost absolutely safe. However, besides the convenience, the smartphone still has an inconvenience, we can not perform the operation as quickly and easily as when we use the computer.

Just what I'm thinking is that using smartphone is kinda complicated and really stressful compared to when you're making a transaction using computer, just didn't really think of using smartphone for everything in my life.

I wouldn't say smartphones are "vital" to bitcoin growth. Even if it's true mobil payments solutions are incrasing, only a few people are interested in. This solutions are targetting a particular audience, the young people 15-30 years old and that's it. Even if the cost of a basic smartphone is cheap, it doesn't mean people are interested to use it for banking activities. And i hardly think most people using bitcoin are really interested to use a bitcoin wallet on their smartphone

Well its partially true bro I mean using your mobile Bitcoin Wallet app in public can be a free marketing tool as it can raise awareness/curiosity to people on what Bitcoin is. Plus I don't really think that Bitcoin transaction is really meant for Desktop Computer use as Bitcoin promoted mobility and practicality having a Bitcoin Wallet based on a Desktop PC is like not bringing your own Wallet when you go out (I hope you get my point). Also the part of people not interested of using smart phones as a Bitcoin wallet is false, then having a QR code for your wallet address is useless because no one will scan it for its usage.

Smartphones are a very important part of the growth of Bitcoin and other different Digital Payment methods because most of the people within the other Countries like to have less things on them while successfully doing business. Processing payments with a smartphone is pretty easy and nowadays the person doesn't have to be online in order to send receive payments from the other person. With Bitcoin all the person needs is a Bitcoin Wallet and that's pretty much all there is and the person could check the transaction on the internet if needed.

I believe people here are speculating about the growth of bitcoin in terms of bitcoin's price levels based on mobile Internet evolution too. Because people were switching from personal computers to laptop computers after that now people are switching from laptop to mobile phones. This shows how much smartphones are vital for bitcoin's growth.

That’s a good point. I hadn’t really thought of that aspect of bitcoin before but it makes sense. I think that since smart phones are indeed becoming more and more a part of our everyday life everywhere in the world this will only help bitcoin.

The point about the QR codes is good too. If people are going to be convinced to use a foreign currency they have to have as many perks and facilities to make that transition as possible.

In my opinion, there is always some kind of correlation between bitcoin growth and smarthphones, but I think that saying they are vital for bitcoin, isn't a smart idea.
Very important function in using bitcoin, is being able to make transactions everywhere, also through mobile phone.
However to make that possible, you need to use rather web wallet instead of the other once, so the security isn't one of it's finest.

That is why, making bitcoin wallet application for mobile could have been a great idea, if there is a way to implement the NFC to work with bitcoin
Also, we should see many options in there, as most of the best wallets can offer on PC, but I would like to see some kind of LITE edition of electrum available on mobile :)

I do most of my transactions on a mobile phone nowadays. Although I have a computer, the advantages of using a smart phone cannot be denied, for some very obvious reasons. There might be risks and security issues associated with it, but that is a constant with everything that has to do with online and digital transactions.

There are plenty of bitcoin wallet from decentralized to centralized, basic features to lots of unnecessary features and most of them are easy to use. I think the real problem is bitcoiner can't find any offline merchants that accept bitcoin as payment method, no major/big services promote bitcoin as payment method, no promotion about bitcoin itself and regulation of bitcoin in each country.
There are many merchants who accept bitcoin as a payment method, they set up a lot of websites, in my country, there are so many such websites, they allow us to sell bitcoin and receive by the same amount Of your country. It is extremely convenient for everyone.

Yes, but I don't know which country you are living but still, nobody is accepting bitcoin in my country.
The smartphone is becoming more popular when it comes technology because everyone is creating apps for the promotions.
So in this way bitcoin will become more popular once many users are accepting bitcoin as a payment method.

except that Apple Pay doesn't cost you $1 every time you use it and doesn't take 10+ minutes (or possibly hours) for your payment to process....
if you are paying $1 for bitcoin transaction fee that means you have been accumulating a lot of dust in your wallet. go learn what transaction size in byte is and how it becomes big then come back.

right now fee for a normal transaction the highest fee is 40 US cents

Quote
what merchant is going to let you walk out of a shop with $20 worth of goods hoping the payment will go through sometime in the next hour or so?
there is a very simple risk assessment that a simple code can do, you can even use an online tool such as blockcypher to do it for you.
a merchant doesn't have to worry about transaction with normal amount of fee, with no unconfirmed parent and no other shenanigans.

and they are accepting bitcoin payment before confirmation.
I am not sure about that. I just transferred $10 to cloudbet sports from a Coinbase wallet and the network fees was 55 cents. But I still agree that it is not that bad. I didn’t think about the halving though. I think that is something to think about. It will be harder to move around coins without loosing a chunk of them if the network fees go up to much. I don’t think confirmation wait times are an issue though either.

I don't like to have the thought of smartphones being the most important thing about Bitcoin Transactions because almost everyone that has an active Internet connection would have the opportunity to build a Bitcoin Wallet and do transactions in real-time. Since the whole process of building a Bitcoin Wallet only consists of about 5 minutes of the person's time, the person has the option to receive money without the need of a smartphone -he could just have a print out of the Wallet information and the money will get transferred to it by the sender.

If people using smartphones wouldn't be able to use bitcoins you could just surrender the flag now and be done with it.

Fortunately enough there are a lot of apps and common uses.

Time is money and doing things while you wait for a bus or on the metro is a big advantage.
Those 5 minutes you talk about are a big turn off for a lot of people these days.

Something has to be done in that regard. Probably accepting zero confirmations from trusted buyers is an option. Yes, you totally lose the anonymity if that's implemented, but at least you can pay with Bitcoins.

Another option would be BTC ATMs in shopping centers. Instead of paying with BTC for every item you get the cash first and then pay with it.

You know what, smartphone really helps the growth of bitcoin industry. Why? It is because having bitcoin wallet in smartphone can make transaction fast,  I mean, you can transact wherever you and whenever you want, like if you are in nowhere and you want to send bitcoin right away then just get your smartphone then send some coins, you do not need to wait to get home to have transaction, this is what bitcoin wants a fast and instant transaction to be maybe even tho the confirmation is slower :D yet at least transaction had been made already.

No, who would want that? The miners? (I am pertaining to the increase of transaction fee)

Anyways, having bottlenecks caused by small transactions will be unavoidable when bitcoin is used in a daily basis. We cannot really stop users from doing it. Blockchain should just have to deal with it.

Although smartphones are gradually replacing computers, however, aside from its usability, there are still some shortcomings, and I suppose it can not completely replace the computer. However, we cannot neglect the fact that the "massive upsurge in small transaction" is an effect of Bitcoin and smartphone tandem. Since Almost all people included in the middle class owns a smartphone and some for the lower class, they might use bitcoin as a form of payment in a daily basis (I am not pointing out whether they can afford the use of bitcoin let us just assume that most of them uses bitcoin). And if this happens then bottleneck will occur and since they are included in the middle and/or lower class, they probably use small transactions.

Smartphones as you said, are becoming more like a one of the common goods, most of people have bought it because they are not so expensive nowadays.

But people may use also just regular wallets like blockchain.info or other web wallets, you can login on them through browser at mobile.
Not really! many people keep their bitcoin in their smart phones, me the one of them because you will feel safe and can check it every time you want to see and have other benefit like you can see avarange price so you when must sell bitcoin atto exchanger.

I think that smartphones actually have no big influence about bitcoin price and growth of the volume, it is true that qr code is something very useful for us, as a bitcoin users however it is not a necessary thing.
Someone may invent something better instead of  smartphone, to have an access to your bitcoin all the time, but with reasonable security and also good mobility.

Storing bitcoin only by your mobile phone is something really stupid, because the thief only needs to steal your smartphone, if you are not well-protected.
Safety measures are always needed, try to make your mobile wallet as secure as possible, because it is endangered the most!

Smartphones are a big enabler for bitcoin and the fintech industry in general.

Applications like Apple pay are doing a lot to re-train consumers. In general, these apps are allowing people to become more comfortable with the idea of storing value on their mobile phones.

So I agree with you.

It's obvious where the world is heading in terms of digitisation, disintermediaton and globalisation - all of these processes were initially enabled by the internet and the fact that the internet is now mobile, via smartphones, I imagine that these trends are due to expand in a major way

This simply means that smartphones are really vital to bitcoin growth.  It is the developers part to fix what ever upsurges in the transaction that causes unconfirmed transaction.  So what are you gonna suggest?  Stop people from using smartphone to do bitcoin transfer?  That is absurd.  Instead, why not develop an app that will maximize the effect of smartphoes in bitcoin adoption / growth.  They are just use as gadget, whether the transaction is made in pc or smartphone, they will create a massive upsurge if Bitcoin do not scale.  Instead pointing fingers on the micro transaction, why not push developer to do their job to fix Bitcoin scalability.

Into the incredible world of innovation, smartphones are actually playing a major role of turning hard-cash payments into making payments in-a-go with one swipe, and Bitcoin gives everyone an opportunity to just scan a QR code and they are done. You are right that this has given some really high privilege to the usage of Bitcoins by end users and made it very easy for even an average user to transact without any hassle.

Smartphones are not vital for bitcoin growth, phones can just be a tool for easier access to some services, wallets but growth of bitcoin depends from developers and miners. Just smartphones are making everything on internet available for us even when we are not at home, little computers in our pockets and that is it, there is nothing vital for bitcoin here, I bet that some people that use bitcoin even don't have smartphone.

Smartphones are vital for bitcoin's growth, as you say, these smartphone can be kist tool ir easier access to some services, but, with that tool, aren't they being attracted using such services? Their services making their work or paying bills really easy, especially when they are busy people who don't have that time to pay up. The fact that smartphones have that kind of tools, the tendecy is that the people will eventually try it and if it goes well or them, they will be introducing it to their family or friends, saying that, the use of bitcoin is growing without us noticing.

We cant ignore tablets and smartphones industry that keeps growing all years, some people has a phone to work and other to personal things. Nowadays there are mobile wallets, several things you can do at them to earn money, and i believe you are able to manage some projects from it, building the projects only at the computer as i know, but well phones will replace a lot issues when you wanna to pay your bills, this is the future.
we certainly can not do without them as technology gets more advanced
cryptocurrencies need to follow suit and enforce better security features to avoid compromise from these smartphones that get smarter every year.
It also helps new users to get on board with the new age of money as the understand the technologies around us

Bitcoin wallet on smartphone make users to do some transactions easier without need to access wallet from a personal computer.
There are some bitcoin wallets for smartphone and I use one too for daily transaction and these platform contribute for bitcoin expansion.
But, spending bitcoin from smartphone cannot compare to others platform such as Apple Pay which doesn't need to pay fee transaction and wait for some time to be confirmed, it has different path for now as long as we have block size issue.

Agreed, that is definitely the future. But the point of slow transaction is also valid, bitcoin has to come up with something better to cope with it so it can be more popularized in the general people and business world.
I this this could be the only or the biggest hurdle standing in bitcoin's way for now.
I also agree that smart phone is a huge help on making bitcoin develop. Why? because as the smart phones develop it means that more wallet and more transaction can be make through bitcoin as it developing also. So t may help people on giving the brighter way to used bitcoin on a daily basis using phone as it make easier and upgraded phone on a future. So as the phone and bitcoin develop it also sure that the internet and security will also develop on a great opportunity of bitcoin to grow.

Having smartphone with an internet connection could really contribute on bitcoin adoption or growth on longer runs but still depends on a person if he would decide to learn bitcoin or not because not matter how many cellphone we do have but we don't have knowledge about bitcoin then I think it would be useless at all. Smartphones could really be a good tool but it does still need some push or awareness of bitcoin in able to maximize it.

In the first place, I am not claiming to stop using smartphone to do bitcoin transactions nor saying that smartphone is not vital for the growth of bitcoin. As a matter of fact, I am using smartphone to hold my bitcoin and for bitcoin transfers. I am only stating the effects of using smartphone and not stating it as a negative way. I am just adding enlightenment. Just be an open-minded person for a change and accept justifiable fact.

As quoted the development in the applications serve as a better way for accessing all our bitcoins with ease. Few applications impose high transaction fee which seems to be one among the drawback. This needs to be done to help the increased usage of bitcoin as a currency through the apps developed for the same.

I've been noticing this too in the community that I live right now. More people are getting involved in Bitcoin with just the use of their smartphones. Most of my friends who just get acquainted with BTC started their first transaction using their phones. With abundant wallet applications available for smartphones, BTC can reach any people anywhere in the world. The future is bright with BTC being mobile-friendly.

As we can see bitcoin is developing its transaction and ways of earning. Some of the development had been made is the wallets or what we called application wallet where you can manage your bitcoin on you phone device so when smartphones develops the bitcoin community will also increased as more ways and used to bitcoin will be made.  For me it smartphone is really a vital factor on bitcoin success.

I don't think I can hold on using a phone as primary and the only one option to surf the internet and do something complicated, the fact that using a phone really makes you struggling and can't do further and advanced activities make it becoming kind of limitation for users. You must eventually buy a computer to simplify your activities regarding of crypto world.
Even though it's a smartphone, doesn't mean it's as smart as computer.

There are some issues also regarding this. Because smartphones can be easily manipulate ( it's system ) they are some hacking issues and the security is not thick enough to do the transactions. Yup it is good to have Bitcoin in smartphones and there are people who uses that but I haven't tried it because of the claims of being hacked.
They are still developing a way to develop a more secured application and transaction. Right now I wouldn't recommend using smartmobiles for your own sake.

I agree a bit I think most of bitcoins transactions will be done on pcs for now but in the future if we are gonna use bitcoins in a every day situation you need some kind of mobile device to make the payment.

And I think that is where bitcoin is going  simple qr code you scan in mcdonalds and payment is done with 0 confirms

That's the goal of Bitcoin, to disrupt Online banking or Online Paying system. So mobile smartphones are very useful today and in the future. You see, nowadays people opt to shop online specially for those who are so busy at their work. It's very convenient for them.

Yes, smartphones have played a major role in bitcoin growth. Many users trade with the comfort of their smartphones. It comes handy for the users/traders/investors to use smartphone and to all the tradings.
