The Russian Deputy Finance Minister, Alexey Moiseev, has said that authorities hope to recognize bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in Russia in 2018.

According to the latest interview with Alexey Moiseev by Bloomberg, Russian authorities are seeking to accept cryptocurrencies as a legitimate financial instrument, but their highest priority today is to enforce rules against illegal transfers.

Both this and the India story belong in the Speculation section, I give zero fucks about what the Russian mafia may or may not do (for the quadrillionth time), and I give zero fucks if they ever actually do make a substantive and/or lasting "legal" mandate anyway

What happens if Russia recognizes bitcoin? I mean is there going to be sort of competitions or its people will be able to use bitcoin?
