Title: Changing currency at mtgox
Post by: michaelexeter on April 24, 2013, 09:44:05 PM
I'm currently trading in GBP on gox (i'm from UK) however I'm being charged 2.5% on every trade (on top of the 0.6% fee). Is there someway I can change my GBP to USD in my wallet, so that when I trde I'm getting better rates....

Hopwfully I can then in turn convert the USD balance back into GBP before withdrawing it again (I intend to make lots of trades in a week, but just make a withdrawal once a month).

I started with a GBP account then very soon after switched to just trading USD with no problems. Haven't needed to withdraw yet though so I can't advise on that.

I don't remember being being charged 2.5% though, unless I really didn't notice, or it's new.

Wait, I never funded my account with Gox, only transferred some BTC I already had if that makes any difference.

As far as I can see the only way to convert GBP to USD in Mt.Gox is via BTC.

You are being charged 2.5% on each GBP trade? That's very strange, I did a few trades in GBP and only paid 0.6%.

Thats because when your trading in GBP, the buy/sell prices you see already have the 2.5% transfer rate built in.

They 0.6% rate will show in your account history, the 2.5% won't however!
