It looks like they were DDoS'ed into signaling for SegWit.

how exactly do you get "DDoS'ed" into signalling something else!
and by the way in the coinbase it still is showing the "EXTBLK" so they are still signalling the same thing!

edit: i am very suspicious of this though, this may very well be the continuation of their twitter game of SegWit is good today, tomorrow SegWit sux, the next day I changed my mind! and so on to play with the price.

edit2: pah, here you go: https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/853047376608600065

~2 days ago f2pool said they are a long term holder of btc and were not signaling for SegWit because they thought SegWit will damage Bitcoin over the long run.

They also said that they were signaling for SegWit on litecoin because they don't care about litecoin nor do they hold any litecoin. They also said they started signaling for SegWit out of fear of DDoS attacks.

Within a day of saying the above, they were the subject of a substantial DDoS attack, that was large enough to actually take them offline for about 45 minutes (their website for longer). Very shortly after coming back online they announced they will support SegWit.

Anyone exercising reasonable judgement should be able to connect the dots.

More Wang Chun trolling. Next week he'll be signaling BU  ::)

Wang Chun says on his twitter, "Bitcoin can't fork and won't fork", but he also thinks that SegWit would be "damaging".  So I don't think he'll be signalling either for a long time and views Bitcoin as more of a digital gold/HODL investment.

There's no real possibility except being DDoSed or hacked (or an error of some sort on their side).

It indeed does seem as f2pool as started to signal for segwit again. Looks like the last 2 f2pool blocks where segwit flagged blocks.

https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/853047376608600065

Although BitClubNetwork seems to have stopped flagging for segwit, so it's stalemate again.

EDIT: Although I would take his words and commitment with a pinch of salt. He could just be testing that he is ready in the event of a successful UASF outcome.

Not at all (about bitclubnetwork). I know the admin of the pool and they are most definitely still signalling segwit; they've just had a run of bad luck and no blocks at all show up. I am also signalling segwit with solo.ckpool.org but since I find a block every 3 weeks on average, my pool doesn't show up either.

Either way, f2pool signalling segwit is sensational news... provided they're not just trolling and pull the pin on it again in the future. He certainly does like to keep us guessing but that last post seems conclusively in favour of segwit (by poll). Now let's see how the markets react since the value seems to parallel segwit support levels :)

What do you make of block 461894? Block version 0x00000004 ???

Colour me unimpressed. I take it back. Luckily f2pool is much bigger than bitclubnetwork. After chatting with him, there are other forces at work here beyond the admin's control but indeed they're not signalling it now, even if they're running segwit compatible pool and bitcoin nodes.

As 56% from the poll in favor of segwit & agreed UASF is bad. We'll respect ur opinion and implement segwit on both BTC & LTC soon. Thanks.

So it seems like he had some kind of poll and decided to signal for segwit... for now at least.

Perhaps he will signal long enough to ensure segwit is activated on LTC, and then find another reason to stop signalling segwit on BTC. Blah de blah, we have decided to stop signalling segwit for BTC because I realised I once stated it would be a disaster. Just wanted to find out if the LTC developers are more than simple cloners!

nay sayer pools stratums hacked on the 2nd to throw hash power at him
when he does vote segwit

then DDosed a week later whe he doesnt vote.

seems its outsiders that are F-ing with him. not the other way round

 seems people are getting desperate

meanwhile bitcoins segwit 31% block flagging is only temporary due to a hack expect it to drop back down below 30% in the next fortnight

Wang Chun‏ @f2pool_wangchun

Someone hacked major mining operations and their stratum had been changed from antpool, viabtc, btctop to us. Our hashrate doubled instantly

P.S yep now below 30%

in my opinion i think Wchun has integrity to admit whats happening when his hashrate goes up and down so rampantly.
unlike whoever is trying to cause speculation controversy by performing the hacks and DDos.. rather than just letter real honest consensus decide

It's a really dumb idea for a miner to let DDoS attacks influence their decision. If they do that, then the opposing side will take notice and DDoS them too to get them to switch.

do we know where this POLL is, who voted on it, and how many voted on it?
there is a screenshot in his tweets but it is in Chinese, so I guess it was inside vote or something. maybe those who connect to the pool of them voted?

BTW I made a summary of all the tweets here (it seems like he mostly has mood swings then blames translation): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1871075.0

then DDosed a week later whe he doesnt vote.

so if I start a DDoS attack on him today, will he start voting for my proposal called Bitcoin Pursuer or in short BP?

Weird, the screenshot shows something from the Burj Khalifa (the largest building in the world, in Dubai) - perhaps 'they' (whoever they are) met there, and some kind of UDP (graph?) Perhaps that's the DDoS since most DDoSes are UDP...
