Title: does anyone know how to work a square account Post by: An0nyMoose on April 16, 2017, 10:02:46 AM I didn't know before signing up that square can not be certified with prepaid checking accounts or I would not have done a first charge to my credit card of $50 (minus fees I recieved 48..) and my savings account is being rejected because of my credit union. Any ideas? I don't want to open up a checking account just to do square... and I don't want to issue a refund to myself and lose the processing fee (even though it's nothing significant that's ugh). Anyone ever dealt with square before? I know that one I add a bank account I can add my debit cards which is what I thought was fun but I'm not really even sure if square links with the squareup which is what I thought it was... Any ideas would be helpful.

My experience with PayPal was that my credit union savings account was valid for credits/debits ("transactional" per https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/3896-link-and-edit-your-bank-account).
Have you asked your credit union for savings account-specific routing/account numbers to give to Square, or if only certain credit unions have a workaround for savings accounts? In the end I closed my account because of Reg D (https://thebutterzone.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/bitcoins-u-s-savingsmoney-market-accounts-dont/). I wonder if the reg changed in the last few years to make all savings accounts, or credit union savings accounts, non-transactional.
