Bitcoin needs a real use case. Amazon is not it.

if amazon should adopt bitcoin as a mode of payment, I will expect the bitcoin price and value to have a very high jump and others big site like google, yahoo, ebay and aliexpress will follow in adoption. After this I will expect government from both developed countries and developing countries to legalize it and at this point I will expect bitcoin price to be above $10,000.

Believe me, in this time bitcoin is not seriously needed a real use case. You should be considered about the recent condition of bitcoin chain.  ::)

Nope, There are some possibilities for the bitcoin users use the amazon service through the debit card or amazon voucher. But looks like that the ways aren't having a lot of demand. That can be reflected as the result if amazon accepting the bitcoin as the direct payment to the site.

Legalization of the bitcoin still become another concern.
We know if all of the things related to the crypto still on the gray area. 

That's highly unlikely to happen. Amazon, Google or any big company will think a thousand times before taking such a step because nobody knows the price of a Bitcoin tomorrow. If it increases then the people will not be using it to buy things and if it decreases then companies will be in a huge loss.
They can't accept a decentralized currency as payment gateway.

This option is unlikely due to the fact that bitcoin is not regulated by anyone. But if they could do this, then the crypto currency would be much more popular and its price would rise significantly.

buying a gift card from a third party which has no affiliation with Amazon and then spending that Gift card on Amazon website is not called "pay on Amazon with bitcoin". it is called using a third party.

Yes, this is a risky step. In the event of a significant drop in bitcoin, large companies may remain in a huge loss. So far this prospect is not expected.

Well I think people who looking to shop around with btc and if amazon accepts it then certainly such people will buy all the products required for their daily will buy from amazon and certainly this will make their sale a more higher as their is another payment mode available to users.

It would definitely a plus point for Shoppers who are indulged with BTC. But it is kind of uncertain and unlikely that Amazon will start selling goods by accepting BTC, because the value is volatile. Moreover, still many country has hanging views against BTC, neither its banned nor legal, so there is a fear of sudden government acts which can create issues with their business.

If Amazon ever allows Bitcoin to be used as a mode of payment at their site, this will open doors for Bitcoin to be accepted at some more reputed shopping websites too like Walmart, FlipKart, etc. which would definitely add up too much value to the prestige of bitcoins, and possibly an unbelievable and incredible rise in the price of Bitcoins will be seen.

Paying with Bitcoin on Amazon is super easy.  Various sites sell you gift cards for it, and you can even pay pretty much directly on services like Purse.io.

The only effect that Amazon accepting Bitcoin would have on the price is that some people look at it and see it as a cool little gimmick, don't appreciate Bitcoin really but buy a little and spend it on Amazon.  If that happened though, the transaction volume would increase resulting in transaction fees rising too high for people to keep doing it so it would be a sort of self-regulating system in which only a small amount more people actually use it.

The only reason why the price could possibly rise is because of speculation from people who think Amazon would bring more users.  In reality, it's always mostly just random people who don't stick around for long, and in the end not a lot would be bought on there with Bitcoin anyway.

Amazon accepting bitcoin is a great thing, but only for those of us who already know bitcoin and have bitcoin in our wallets to spend.

for other people who don't have any bitcoin it would just be additional fees. because if you don't already have it you have to buy it. that means depositing fiat to an exchange or transferring money to someone who sells bitcoin which means 1 fiat transfer fee and then buy bitcoin at a bit higer price depending on which method you choose and spend at a little bit lower price (market rate) and that is another percentage lost.

As i have expected before reading this thread, was that there will be people here who are going to predict that if Amazon will adopt bitcoin payments, then its price will go up straight to the moon.

I think that it will influence the bitcoin/usd rate slighlty, but the biggest difference will be in that the BTC will be more attractive for people who dont see any usage, except buy goods with it.

That will make things easier for many newbies, also it will create a big market for selling goods online.

As I've said many times, I don't think companies like this are going to be the ones that go ahead and move to accepting Crypto based on the fact that you're going to be using them either way if you want to buy something from their site. It's sad that they wouldn't want to innovate, but why would they spend the time and money associated with it when they don't need to in the least.

But going on the tangent of if they would accept BTC, I think it would start to stabilize the price of bitcoin based on the fact that a lot more people would be using it and it would be in demand for the price to be stable.


Price would need to stabilize, people don't want to be using a currency this is worth x amount one day and 9/10th of that the next day. This is why people don't want to put their savings accounts into bitcoin too.

Isn't the Amazon.com is already accepted bitcoin as an online shopping. And I knew this online shopping type will give help into bitcoin to increase the value of it. Moreover, there are other country who is already accepted bitcoin as their legal currency like in Japan, China, though its not 100% totally, but almost getting close to it.

I do strongly believe one day Amazon will start accepting bitcoin payments, it will create some hype in bitcoin market but I do not think no chances for drastic changes as people are already using bitcoins for Amazon shopping through gift cards. So there are markets for this, but official acceptance will trigger more market share for this, hence we can expect some up surge of bitcoin prices once Amazon make an announcement.

If the Amazon would accept bitcoin for payment method on there, there are some will happen with this,
first bitcoin will be more famous than righ now, second price of bitcoin will be increasing because of
there are many people use bitcoin for payment method on Amazon
and the Amazon will get costumers around the world especially from comunity of bitcoin.

Amazon is a megastore and if it were to accept bitcoin it would certainly force other competitors like ebay,aliexpress and many others to follow
as this would be a huge step to make more sales and also increase their customer base and we would see demand for bitcoin also increase

This will happen soon , Because I think it will introduce the world with the bitcoin , here I am not saying to introduce with us , but here in the world many numbers of people don't know bitcoin , so it may be possible that more and more people enter in the bitcoin and make the bitcoin much more powerful and more increase in the price .

If amazon should accept bitcoin, that will be fine, as it will be a direct exchange/transaction online. and i think it will soon be.  

If they accept BTC, they will soon be accepting other coins as well. I'd like to think ETHereum will also be there and so are the ones that will caught Amazon's interest. It always feel like the next years are going to be good for early adopters like us who are holding btcs and some other coins. If Microsoft accepts ETH, they will probably do too.

What other companies would have a effect on BTC if they accept it?

If Amazon accepts bitcoin then it will be a big news because Amazon and Bitcoin is a very big names in the industry of economy and there is already a lot of people in Amazon that keep using their service so those people could possibly use bitcoin also if their company accepted bitcoin as another type of payment method because they will find out that bitcoin has a lot of potentials.

Amazon is a big company, if bitcoin is accepted it will make our transaction become easier and people don't need to be afraid of credit card fraud, it will be good for both, Amazon will get more selling and bitcoin will get more popularity, if big company like Amazon or other big e-commerce company adapting bitcoin we will see another big rising for bitcoin

If Amazon will accept BTC as a payment, the benefits for us is we can buy things using bitcoin as a payment so there is no hassle for us convert into our legal currency, we can direct buying products using BTC. And the benifits for Amazon is demand of their product will increase so that they can increase the price of their product because of lack of supply.

If the Amazon would accept Bitcoin it will be a big help for them to promote their site because it can't be deny that bitcoin community is that small to be compare to other shopping on-line. And for sure, the target market was all countries in the entire world due Bitcoin was international currency which is available to all countries that has a good connection of the Internet.

What is about ebay? They would be perfect for microtransactions.

Amazon wants Bitcoiners to come to them, they ain't planning on assisting Bitcoin or anything similar, just

It is an if. So the answer disregards that amazon will not accept it although it is true.
If ever it will. There will be a large increase in the usage of bitcoin and somehow it might also increase the bitcoin price.
There are too many items at amazon and with payment option opening thru bitcoin then many of us here in this forum will come running and buy what we want thru bitcoin also.

It will be an advantage for us as an bitcoin enthusiast, because its an additional edge to share to our friends that bitcoin now was being use as mode of payment online in amazon.com, Therefore, expect the high jump price value of bitcoin. ;)

I think it's still too early for that to happen. In order to do so we need 2 things to happen.

1. Instant or nearly instant transactions
2. Alot of more people who frequently use bitcoin. This will add alot more liquidity and stabilize the price.

 If alot of people start using BTC amazon will be forced to jump on the train. But we're not there yet.

There will be some popularity. More people will know about bitcoin. But I think not many people use bitcoin for shopping as people prefer bitcoin as investment. So they are likely to spend fiat in such cases. I am not saying everybody does that. But the bigger fraction of bitcoin owner keep it as investment and hardly use it in any kind of shopping.

If amazon can accept bitcoin of course this will be a very extraordinary thing. A major online merchant in the world can make all other merchants interested in receiving bitcoin. If this happens then it could be a bitcoin price increase will be much greater than today. And bitcoin demand is increasing from various circles

Maybe yes maybe not, but if yes it will be good for the customer. They will have a lot of payment method to buy amazon product but of course, amazon needs to clear the rules about this. Hope they will accept bitcoin as a payment method and also give more discount or even a contest ( maybe ). I will wait for this moment.

If bitcoin is accepted directly by Amazon the market capital of bitcoin will surely peak in a short. Because more corporate firms will start to invest into bitcoin. Along with this the awareness about bitcoin and other altcoins too will increase among the users in large scale.

Yes I agree, but do you think bitcoin is ready at this point? I don't think it is yet. Transactions are sometimes too slow (even with reasonable fees) and the bitcoin network doesn't support a huge number of transactions per second right now.

I agree. With the high transaction fee's incurred when using bitcoin as mode of payment, buyers might get frustrated that will force Amazon not to accept bitcoin for now. Bitcoin is really tied up with the scaling issue that will make people not to used it. I hope the issue can be resolved soon.

The only coin ATM to become global as it would in Amazon is BTC. however there are several issues with BC blockchain that have to be solved before this happens or the problems that will emerge will give crypto a very bad name.

Yes before accepting bitcoin by the big companies the issue should be fix first because a lot of things can happen when bitcoin is accepted and there is still problems with its network. If amazon will accept bitcoin while there is a unconfirmed transaction problems then it will be such a big problem that will be a bad reputation for bitcoin.

I think you haven't log in to Amazon for quite some time. It already is accepting BTC as mode of payment but not directly on their website instead you can use your wallet on purchasing products and I think availing their Amazon gift cards.

Well that's a different thing. Amazon accepting/including bitcoin as an direct option to make purchases would be a whole different story. But using third party sites to buy amazon gift cards does not mean that amazon is accepting bitcoins. We can also buy prepaid gift cards for other online shops like ebay and playstore. That does not mean that they are accepting bitcoin.
