Title: Anyone ever sold to themself?
Post by: massivebitman on April 25, 2013, 06:34:35 PM
So stupidly, in the midst of the panic I set a sell order at 149.

The price had since then been trading at 150+

To my amazement the order didn't go through, but looking at my coins, they'd gone down.

Turns out I'd put in a ridiculous buy order at over $2000 a coin, 2797

I managed to lose 6 coins, by trying to sell.

Why the fuck would gox let you do something so stupid?

Oh wait... They got some nice fees.

Ok sure what I did was dumb, but fuck Gox they should make it clearer.

You don't know what you're doing on their shit interface

Actually that gives me an idea. They have a trading API, that I've used... Maybe I'll make an enhanced interface for Gox.

Anyone who'd want this +1

If I get enough +1s, interest I'll start a separate thread to discuss

the "new gox" interface is horrible and very easy to mess up buying/ selling

:(  you can always use the classic one, though

But apparently Clark Moody is working at the same.

It's v easy to make errors on Gox, i've made a significant one earlier this week, it was actually an Accident. I've recovered now but took me a while and tons of patience.

How do you do this? Did not see this option. Thanks.

I've lost 60$ today doing similar stuff. Couldn't decide if it was a matter to be angry about or to laugh at me :)

I'm definitely going to try classic gox as this one screams for buying when you want to sell.

+1'd.

I made some small scripts for myself to trade more quickly, but having a nice interface would surely be nice. I don't really have the time to do all the programming myself though. I would even pay for this if it ends up being a decent program. :)

"Sorry, you must have Javascript enabled to use Mt. Gox"

That means that mtgox is horrible and the classic is even more horrible.

I get that too but it does work, no idea what it represents there. I've turned off both adblock and noscript and it's still there

It would suck even more without JS. it's not 1999. JS is genuinely useful for form pre-validation and enhancing the interface.

... But on the flip side, they shouldn't allow you to trade with yourself. Quite surprised those two orders were matched to be honest.

the gox buy and sell screens look the same. I'm very carefull, but managed to buy instead of selling when using gox.

you can't see the order book neither

bitcoin-24 went down but that was the best interface

buy was box on the left, sell was box on the right

below you saw your orders you had open

and below that you saw the order book,

bids on the left, asks on the right

perfect, no other screens needed, no mistakes possible, except for inputting the wrong numbers, but it never happened to me after using it many times, I made a mistake already after only using gox 2 times

What I want to know is when they'll fix their damn mobile app.  That thing was better than both web interfaces lool.

You should only be able to trade by yourself if you have two accounts. Although considering the level of professionalism from Gox it would not surprise me that you can buy and sell to yourself on the same account. That is a massive joke though.

Stay away from crap trading engines!!!

Looks like someone just did a boo boo...

Profit: -36.60 BTC. Ouch. Make sure your buy and sell orders don't overlap, guys... ;)

(This will happen if your orderbook has a limit ask for some low price, and you later enter a bid order for some higher price.)

PS: Wadn't me... This time. Also: Mt.Gox, fix this shit!
