Post by: previse on April 25, 2013, 08:13:40 PM
I just got my second 7970 today and i'm in need of some help....

They are both gigabyte ghz edition cards. The temperatures are hitting upwards of 85-90 degrees. Are these temperatures safe? anyone else have this issue?

thanks

People prefer to stay at the limits of 72c-75c, but graphics cards can handle 90c. Also, to save your graphics card fans, 75% and under speed is preferred as well.

In no time you will kill your fans. Risky if you do not have warranties, not risky if you have time to RMA the cards on their warranties.

EU lead free solder starts to get brittle at 90c

Try to improve your cooling.

If the OEM fans go, you can strap cheap desktop fans to the cooler, it's no big problem.
