Title: making my GPU usable for OpenCL
Post by: Geremia on April 25, 2013, 08:19:13 PM
I get this error with BFGMiner:
bfgminer -n

Here's my "bfgminer -D -d?":

How do I make my GPU usable? Since it's powering my video, would this require going headless? And how would I go headless?

thanks

Also, what's a "ZTEX device"? thanks

I am not an expert, but I had similar problem when OpenCL was not installed properly. you have to install ATI SDK.
You can check if you have OpenCL installed running GPU-Z program.

You need an ATI/AMD GPU.

Before ATI AMD GPU I successfully used nVidia card, of course it was much slower though.

OK he needs an AMD or NVidia GPU.

He has an Intel GPU and these forums are full of threads about how they don't work.  Have you seen a case where an Intel GPU mined successfully?

To be realistic if he want's to GPU mine he needs an AMD.
Sam

An FPGA mining device.

There are a very small number of integrated GPUs in newer Intel CPUs that can mine, but only on windows with the latest intel opencl.

However in terms of performance, they suck even bigger dicks than Nvidia GPUs do, so they're no better than CPU mining. Now go and read a billion other forum threads on why it's not worth it.

Title: Beignet

Beignet (https://github.com/sjnewbury/beignet) enables using OpenCL with Intel GPUs.

Beignet (https://github.com/sjnewbury/beignet) enables using OpenCL with Intel GPUs.

It's still totally pointless, though.

Wouldnt it be easier to just buy a new gpu

Not for testing purposes, though
