Because it is currently very hard to get your currency (USD for example) out of Bitfinex due to some issues with their banking relationship.  This leads to increased pressure to BUY Bitcoins in order to move the Bitcoins of of the Bitfinex platform.  Since there is extra pressure to buy the price goes up.

the prices vary from exchange to exchange and it depends on the number of people buying the coins. The buying trend will make the buying orders more high and hence price will be slightly higher at one exchange than another.

they are stop accepting fiat deposit last tiem i've checked, not that you can't get out your bitcoin or you money, it's only hard to get them in

i find irritating those exchange that keep operating with those issue, just to squeeze few cent from the remainig trading activity, which would also look almost dead in this case

Yeaaa just like huobi and any other chinese exchange that have a trouble on withdrawing the money out.
Not always leads to to increase i guess , huobi and btcchina has the lowest rate right now because of regulation issue.
I don't know exactly , am i missing something or what?

Actually in most of the exchanges you will find a different price almost every time so it's no surprise, however it's true that the difference is quite big.I reckon it's because it is more difficult to operate on that exchange and deposit cash to buy BTC

you can't compare the two situations.
Chinese exchanges have closed down EVERYTHING. and they did it themselves based on what PBoC demanded from them.

bitfinex is different because their bank in Taiwan is blocking their wire transfers and that is affecting most of their fiat transfers. you can still use HKD and CHF to withdraw, also they are opening a way to give a temporary one time withdrawals chance to anyone who wishes to withdraw fiat[1] and also there is still deposit and withdrawals of cryptocurrencies (which has been working fine) and they have a couple of them including bitcoin and litecoin. and because of this last part people use (not-withdraw-able) fiat to buy crypto (mostly bitcoin) and withdraw that bitcoin.

Cause getting BTC s the only way to get your money out of Bitfinex and a lot of people try to this due to their banking issues. However, this should get resolved and equilibrium should be back soon. Unless they go bankrupt. :)

Yes it is, bitfinex exchange seems to be crash without bank support. Funny thing, we always compare blockchain technology or bitcoin wallets with banks account, even some people say wallet could replace banks but in the end an exchange cannot works properly without bank support for  deposit and withdrawal. So, customers have no choice except to buy bitcoin ini order to withdraw bitcoin out of this trouble exchange.

I read their announcement and I can't find anything substantial in it. Bitfinex said that banks suddenly refused to work with them.
But why exactly that happened? It is because of Chinese regulations, some new banking policies or it was Bitfinex and other exchanges which broke some rules?
We can read that it is absolutely clear that Bitfinex is solvent. Didn't Mt.Gox say the same thing not long before their bankruptcy?

Altcoin and bitcoin withdrawal is still functioning well. Only the dollar withdrawal is having problems. Unfortunately, we all are still dependent on fiat. That's the problem. If we are not dependent on fiat anymore, even if banks block transactions, it will be no problem.

Happened to be the same on the MtGox incident. If you have money on Bitfinex its in danger to disappear.

It's not as bad as that at the time when MtGox basically was the index exchange so everyone followed Gox Prices as the basepoint price.
Now its more spread out so even if one spikes the rest won't follow as quickly.

But in response to OP liquidity plays a huge role also location sometimes but less now and depends on your index coindesk is 1260 bitcoinaverage 1240 wisdom is a bit of the outlier at 1300 due to which ones it uses to measure base.

Is it still safe to put money into Bitfinex Burt? (as you were endorsing a few days ago)

Or have you changed that position now Bitfinex is looking even more questionable than when you suggested it was still safe?

If they get their banking relationship all worked out then no problem.  If they cannot get their banking relationship fixed then not so good.  We will see.

Difference can be experienced within exchanges. This happens in a minor range which won't have such a big difference in the price tag. In the past due to the financial crisis happening in a particular country the price was found high only with the particular locality. Now this time it's is perfectly the failure of bitfinex is the reason to fix a increased price.

You can't withdraw or deposit through a bank transaction. Bitcoin becomes the main way to withdraw your money from bitfinex. The bank has blocked bitfinex bank account. Those people are FOMO bitcoin to release his money from the bitfinex.

Bitfinex has announced that the problem will be solved as soon as possible.
But there is no deadline when the problem will be fixed.

Hello there,

I have been checking the prices lately and it seems that bitfinex has one of the best buying bitcoin prices. To give you an example;

bitfinex - $2444
gemini - $2478
kraken - $2488

Can we just make a dollar deposit into a different exchange then transfer it to bitfinex to buy bitcoins and once we buy the bitcoin, we can transfer back to another exchange?

I know that they can't deposit the amount into bank account in $$$ but how are they with the bitcoin transfers?

dollar doesn't magically go in that exchange, it needs to go through a bank. and banks have blocked bitfinex accounts by the time this topic was created (I don't have any updates on how this has changed though). so no it is not possible.

some exchanges however have an option called "codes" like btc-e codes which you can buy off the market and peer to peer and use that to fund your account. you need to check bitfinex, if they have this option then you can use that. I have used this method a couple of times to deposit fiat on btc-e by buying btc-e USD code with my local currency.

I know that they can't deposit the amount into bank account in $$$ but how are they with the bitcoin transfers?

also last time I checked they never had any problems with any of the cryptocurrencies. and you could deposit and withdraw all of them including bitcoin.
