Title: Please help on RX 480, my rig keep freezing
Post by: huynhdat1989 on April 21, 2017, 10:09:02 PM
Dear,

I just begin to mine ETH on Ethos. And I build a system with 6 RX480. But the whole system is freezing after couple hours, I use sgminer-gm. I keep reboot and it still not working well.
Do you know what is possible problem on my rig? I use EVGA 1600W. I did not flashing, overlocking, keep all original.

Regards,

Back off to 5 cards.

show us the bat file  for sgminer-gm   you can leave the eth-address out

the psu should be more then enough

lastly  you are using risers    how did you hook them up?

1 riser per  sata cable is good
2 riser per sata cable is not good

Could you please list all of your hardware in detail?
What are your temperatures while mining?
What software are you using?

I use the ETHOS, so I dont have the bat file for sgminer-gm. Does Ethos cause problem?
I connect directly power from VGA supply to the riser like connect to AntMiner. I saw the data cable for each riser but I am not use them. Is it the problem when I connect directly power from VGA port to risers?

I just back off to 5 cards, and it still happen.
I have only 4 data ports on the PSU, if I want 1 sata cable for 1 riser might be not enough.

Ps: thanks Phillips, you help me not only on Bitcoin but also on EThereum.

Why is that? I have 2 / 3 on one cable and everyrhing runs smooth (riser is 006c with the 6 pin power thing)

This is the default configuration
This what you are using?
This command for sure is missing... globaldriver amdgpu
And also some other lines for the settings of the GPUs

Yes Evakka, I just unplug and plug each GPU. I figure out 2 of them make my rig freeze when run individually. My GPUs is brand new, so is it the problem with the risers? Which risers do you recommend and where to buy it?

The rig still freezing. How is your rig, is it stable?

Switch the risers one by one so to find the faulty ones

Are they powered? They have to be for sure!!
Also what's the version of the risers, the suggestion is 006

When I switch risers one by one, how many hours for running to make sure that risers are good?

I powered all risers with 6pins, and 8pins with the GPU. The riser I use is 006. I just ordered 12 risers more.
The motherboard I bough is on Gpushack.com.
