Title: newbie questions Post by: nakisama on April 22, 2017, 05:30:30 PM sorry if really stupid
I have opened some accounts with different wallets. Now I wanted to do my first purchase but I wanted to do it with another user, not having to go through all the paperwork required by the exchanges for example. I contacted one user which was offering his exchange service. I did not use an escrow (still not familiar with how to use this) Amount is small but anyway: - if he has already instructed the transfer of bitcoin to me, even if it has to go through verifications, is this transaction "unconfirmed" ? - using my bitcoin address (I do not have his) I should be able to see that pending transaction ? - if that is the case, then we should be able to cancel the deal and he could revert back the funds I've sent him (minus the fees required for that transfer). Am I correct on the above ? thanks Title: Re: newbie questions Post by: BurtW on April 22, 2017, 06:10:36 PM - if he has already instructed the transfer of bitcoin to me, even if it has to go through verifications, is this transaction "unconfirmed" ? Yes it should show up on the blockchain as unconfirmed.- using my bitcoin address (I do not have his) I should be able to see that pending transaction ? Yes. But the comment "I do not have this" worries me. Why do you not have it? You most definitely should have it, after all you must have sent the address to the person who was suppose to transfer Bitcoins to the address.Simplest way for us to help you: Post the Bitcoin address here and we can help you see what is happening. - if that is the case, then we should be able to cancel the deal and he could revert back the funds I've sent him (minus the fees required for that transfer). Well if he has already sent the Bitcoins to your address then it cannot be reversed. I assume that is what you meant by "if he has already instructed the transfer of bitcoin to me", that is not reversible.Title: Re: newbie questions Post by: jaceefrost on April 22, 2017, 06:17:48 PM sorry if really stupid Yes you can see the status of the transaction you made if it's still waiting for confirmation tho Bitcoin transactions can not be revert back. If you doubt the legitimacy of the guy better to just use an escrow to secure the transaction. I have opened some accounts with different wallets. Am I correct on the above ? thanks How much are you going to exchange and what currency or payment processor it's from? There may be other more legitimate and trusted people in here who can help you out. I sent funds using another payment method, I did not need his bitcoin address to send the funds, only his email which I have (and I guess that you cannot know a bitcoin address if you know someone's email) Where can I be more informed about what is and how to use an escrow? I'm a newbie, it is my first transaction so of course I have no feedback and because of that I am willing to pay a higher fee but as far as I understand using an escrow will imply an additional fee to a third party? Title: Re: newbie questions Post by: COINMAN1 on April 22, 2017, 06:24:51 PM He is only looking for 20$$ and i think he want to deal with me i ask him to send first or if he still think i am not trusted enough we can use zazrab as an escrow and he pay his fesses
