Title: Mining to a Bitcoin address i cant find?
Post by: lankyman on April 22, 2017, 07:35:43 PM
HI, i have been mining to a bitcoin address and i dont know where the hell i got it from, as in which computer of my 2-3,  i can not find the correct wallet with it inside.
When i open the Bitcoin Core i just click on File -> Receiving Addresses. Right ?

Such a fking idiot, Im  not sure if i can allocate the address to me somehow?
2 weeks of mining for nothing, i was to fcking scream now.

Well, I'd start mining to a different address.

Also search the blockchain for your address and see if the incoming/outgoing transactions jog your memory as to where that wallet.dat was.

If you are loading an old wallet.dat prior to that address being generated, it may not be visible in that .dat.  Don't know if that means the private keys are there or not.

There's no way to add that address to a different wallet unless you backed up the private key for it.
Good luck.

its 22 dollar worth but for me its like300 bucks i can buy 1.5 weeks worth of petrol or 6 KFC meals.
i dont understand it i just dont see it...

I only have one measly pc i mine with which has 1 card and it took me bloody 3-4 weeks

myh only problem is that when i was starting this stuff i installed 3-4 bitcoin cores on one of 2 Desktops with 3 different OSes in total and then also my laptop but it is not in those wallets
whats weird is that i see like 2 or 3 in the one wallet i dont know why

maybe i was fking around and i deleted the address from the wallet?

that is long gone then right ?

Maybe I'm reading what you wrote wrong, but if you are mining with a pc and a graphics card, you probably weren't mining bitcoin. At least not $22 worth in a month. One graphics card would be making pennies, not dollars.

Let's start again.
Could you please post what miner did you use and what's the command line you had? Could you post the address you mined into?
Maybe we can find out more info for you.

Find any addresses that have sent or received money from that address and break it down logically where the address could be - which computer it could be on.

Use times, dates and transaction amounts to find out where you sent the Bitcoin from and which computer has the address. :)

Happy to help you.

You need the private key to the public address that is receiving the mining rewards. Check to see if you made any backups of your wallet or any other computer you might have used. Maybe a web wallet or one on your phone? If you only had 1 wallet, it might be corrupted or you need to reindex.  Type these command line arguments, be be patient as they make take a long time to run:
Code:

bitcoin-qt -salvagewallet
Code:

bitcoin-qt -rescan
