Title: FeatherCoin Exchange Bounty Claimed
Post by: bushstar on April 26, 2013, 10:33:17 AM
The bounty offered on the thread here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=181443.0) for creating an exchange that supports FeatherCoin, has been claimed by Martin over at the Cryptonit exchange. He announced the news of FeatherCoin support at the link below.

Cryptonit Feathercoin News
https://cryptonit.net/content/feathercoin-exchange

This is fantastic news and allows us to find a fair price for this new cryptocoin. The launch of Feathercoin has gone very well and it has got a lot of positive attention and support from the community. I think that more and more people are acknowledging that there is room for several cryptocoins, not just one or two.

I don't like multiple currency exchange, vircurex style :

FRC / LTC
PPC / NVC

It's better to tie everything to USD / BTC :
LTC / BTC,
FC / BTC,

just like BTC-E's style, but that's just my opinion.

I can see the logic behind having all the currencies ias it adds flexibility, but it might spread the volume a little to thin for traders to have fun.

Indeed, Feathercoin is doing slow and solid steps forward: stable/growing network hashrate (it touched 1GbH/s, new pools, many succesfull trades, price going slowly up togheter with mining difficulty.

A proper exchange site is nedeed for a quality jump: even if the coin is young it has great potential! Congrats to the bounty winner.

Is the site still not accepting new members?  I was trying to sell some freicoin there the other day, and couldn't register because their servers couldn't handle the load.  So I was wondering if it is open yet?  I am not so sure a bounty should be claimed when a site can't offer support to anyone wishing to trade there.

I am expecting some to see some cheap coins to start with. I need to restock as so much has gone out for bounties and I want to continue in the same vein. It is a lot more fun to work with other people :)

Traded freicoin at this exchange before.  They went offline almost a week ago and have not been working since.  Would not really be rewarding anything to this site quite yet.

Owner of the site says a problem with the FRC daemon is why he hasn't put FRC back up yet.  He says he has communicated this issue to the devs of FRC, but they haven't fixed the problem yet.

I'd like FRC to come back online there as well, but I don't believe it is the owner's fault as to why it hasn't.

I say wait a month before a bounty is rewarded. What's to stop them offering Feathercoins for a 2 days and then taking them back down... Or what if they have problems.

I keep getting Page Unavailable errors.

Anyone in contact with the site owners to find out what's going on?

So, how do I withdraw if I don't have a phone or yubikey?

Okay there seems to be a windows client.

The site is bouncing up and down in strange ways. Logging in throws strange error messages half the time. Sometimes after the errors you're logged in, and sometimes you're not.  You're all using unique usernames and passwords per site, right? ;)

I transferred 100 FC across. That worked (once I could convince the site to let me login; Took 3 attempts just to create the account). It won't let me withdraw anything without setting up two-factor auth to start with, but that was easily fixed.

Now I can withdraw anything. Anything but FC :-|  The UI won't allow it.

I wouldn't put any FC into here until they at the bare minimum allow getting it out again.

Anyone else working on an exchange?

Personally I think this altcoin rush is absolutely pointless and stupid, and possibly harmful to the established crypto currencies. All the newly launched coins (BBQ, BTE, Feather, SMC) are just premined junk weekend project aimed at drawing in GPU-mining teenagers. They have NO adoption and no value other then the arbitrarily set value that the large early miners 'set' when they make so called 'trades' here. I don't get why any reputable exchange would touch them with a 10ft pole.

Heh. You know, it's really funny after a couple of years the same stale kneejerk comments that were made about BTC are now made by BTC's proponents.

They have NO adoption

Zomg, Litecoin had major adoption in it's first weeks... oh wait.  It's funny, I was looking through the old Litecoin launch thread and these emotional responses were said about it in relation to Bitcoin.

Tell me more.

Guys, a warning : Do not deposit your FTC yet. I did, and now I cannot withdraw it. The withdraw option is disabled.

The trade hasn't open yet, and you won't be able to touch your funds.

Anyone else working on an exchange?

I was, but it looks like my partner dumped me... I'm a professional Web developer and already have a working exchange code base , but it still needs some work here and there before it could be launched.
So I am looking for a partner who will buy the server and run the exchange, I'll write the code and manage the system.

If you're interested please send me a PM.

There is now a withdrawal option for Feathercoin. There is a 1 feathercoin "transaction fee". I haven't tried it yet.

https://cryptonit.net/exchange/ftc/ltc it seems, although there isn't a direct link anywhere obvious at the moment. The site seems to be crashing under load, and buy and sell orders are going through at a different price than you type in.

The '0.02%' commission is turning out to be something like 8%. WTFThe orders were showing at a totally incorrect price. The order went through at the correct price. Still REALLY dodgy.

Okay, so far I've managed to
  • Deposit FTC
  • Exchange for LTC
  • Withdraw LTC
but the site's front-end is so flaky.

It looked like it had cancelled my outgoing transfer when I tried to authorize it, and put the funds back into my account. It then allowed me to put in a trade, but the trading engine didn't allow the trade to go through and instead sent out the original transfer.

Well, at least it didn't allow double spending. The site has *serious* caching issues (e.g. most pages that are showing up are stale; Ominous.), and just does weird stuff under load. When it works, it works though.

I would not hire the site admin as a professional webdev :)

Wouldn't that decrease the market value of the bounty they claimed?

I was happy to contribute to the bounty, thank you to everyone that participated. It looks like our hashing and difficulty is back on track.
