Post by: bluudz on April 23, 2017, 04:13:03 PM
Hello.
Kedjom Keku which is non government organization trying to help with protection of the forest in Cameroonian Bamanda Highlands is now accepting Bitcoins for supporting the project.
I have been there for 9 months as a volunteer and I really like the work Martin Mikes and his team is making in the area so I hope you don't mind me promoting the project here.

You can learn more about the project through the homepage: http://kedjom-keku.com/en/ or check the location of project at map: https://coinmap.org/venue/9712

If you like the project please support it. Your Karma and our almighty Satoshi will be pleased!
Thank you

This are the sort of use bitcoin was envisioned for. Glad to see an NGO there accepting donations in crypto. I don't know how much the effect of bitcoin's volatility on donations would be but the ease of use should be enough to make it a viable mean of transfer. Not sure how much the transaction fee would cost during price peaks but I suppose it would still be much cheaper than the usual modes like Western Union.

I wonder if the NGO is using a software wallet or have an account on an exchange. If it was the latter, wouldn't that be a bit more costly since you'd have to pay tx fee to send it to an exchange that can cash it out to fiat?

At the moment I think they are using Blockchain wallet, but some more elegant solution may come a bit later.
