I realise I need to make some posts in order to post to other forums, and I have some pretty important cryptography related ideas I want to talk to like minded people about, so I am hopefully going to get this noob process over with quickly :)

You should just write your posts here in the Newbie Forum. Then once you've cleared newbie status you can move your thread to one of the other sub-forums.
