Title: The Altcoin that is next to Bitcoin...
Post by: erickkyut on April 25, 2017, 12:54:31 PM
Now that digital currency is becoming more and more popular in the whole world, there are lots of altcoins that exist in the market aside from Bitcoin. In your own opinion, what is/are the altcoin/s that will also be popular aside from Bitcoin and why did you say so?

Litecoin, because Bitcoin will not get segwit anytime soon, so as fees go higher in Bitcoin, people will look for alternatives to make payments, and Litecoin is the ideal alternative because it will have segwit and lighting networks backed by the Bitcoin Core's solid code.

Litecoin has always been there with bitcoin, it was overshadowed by bitcoin but it is a great coin on its own. I wouldn't be surprised to see litecoin take over bitcoin's throne, but that probably won't happen. But with segwit coming to litecoin it certainly gain some popularity.

Litecoin
Segwit implementation and faster transaction confirmation will give litecoin a pump because these are most important thing people wanted to see in bitcoin that bitcoin failed to deliver,We know sometime bitcoin transaction confirmation takes very long time while litecoin transaction confirmation are much faster then bitcoin at lower fees.

segwit really bringing a huge impact to ltc if we are looking for its uses ltc will be the next aside from eth and xrp which also
showing its potentials for broader uses in the near future, ltc have many things to consider.

The alternative coins that are very popular aside from bitcoin are ripple, ethereum, litecoin, doge, DASH and many more. The reason why I mentioned this four since Ripple, Ethereum and DASH was next to bitcoin on the coin market cap while doge and litecoin was the two most old coins that existed and has already been famous to the cryptocurrency world.

Litecoin will not take Bitcoin's throne as a store of value. Bitcoin will still be the top ranked currency, but Litecoin will gain more value due more transactions happening there than on the Bitcoin blockchain, because at some point it will just not make any sense having to wait 2 hours for a transaction in order for the safe confirmations to happen, and the fees will also make it not worth it other than holding coins and sending important amounts.

Small payments will all happen in Litecoin. This is a fact as long as Bitcoin cannot get segwit and lightning network to massive scaling.

Although they have become popular, however, they still can not compete with bitcoin. because they have not been considered methods altcoins vs exchanged between each other, in fact, has always been headed Bitcoin because it was chosen as the common currency and exchange intermediary between altcoins.

Although altcoins are becoming more popular in the market, they are all by default bitcoin trading, in other words, it is traded based on the bitcoin value, since it shows the role The importance of bitcoin. That is why bitcoin is still strong in the market.

Litecoin is doing great.
SEGWIT is being implemented really fast which is amazing for the future speed of litecoin transactions.

But still bitcoins is the main reason all those other coins exist.
Hope bitcoin gets segwit ASAP as well.

And always will be something new, Altcoin which can follow progress will survive and maybe can attack leading position one day. This game is reserved for good and strong teams with planty of money invested in PR and marketing research. Maybe it is not just one coin.

Payments? Are you serious with this one? Generally speaking the only cryptocurrency I know that is accepted in the market and online is Bitcoin. I have never seen any store even online (except for gambling sites) that accept Litecoin. With that being said Litecoin in terms of price is good as a cryptocurrency but clearly it does not even come near on the success of Bitcoin is having. If people starts to accept Litecoin as a mode of payment then maybe I would consider changing my views on Litecoin.

Litecoin
You might be right because of the updates that is going on for it. I think that Litecoin will be number 4 against Ripple and Monero.

Why to use LTC payments if there are many cheap and faster payment methods? Almost instant, anonymous etc. I still can't understand the hype around segwit. It doesn't brings anything that other alts can't offer without it. We have cheap and fast TXs method.  You can also find instant and no fees transfer method. You guys are missing the point. BTC has first movers advantage but technology is not static. BTC is far from the leaders. It is just FIRST crypto.

Of course you can say that business accept BTC payments. You can pay electricity bills with Bitcoins but will you if TX fee is higher than your invoice? Business just don't understand the technological side. They are in a trap of BTC hype. But after they will understand it, they will definitely remove it out. However, as TX fees are not their problem and they accept only fiat (BTC converted to fiat in real time price), they can continue to accept "BTC" though, actually, they are accepting only fiat.

If you want something similar to bitcoin, but not really better, LTC would be the way forward.
I think it missed out by not being the first mover though, so will never be widely accepted.

If Bitcoin fails, I expect that a new alt would take over, maybe something like ETH. I still think that it is Bitcoin or bust for Crypto in the near future though.

1. who can compete with VISA in terms of TXs per sec; 2. almost instant and very cheap TXs; 3. communicaton with private blockchains (bridge interledger or whatever method); 4. Efficient, safe and fast  but not large electricity consuming and nature unfriendly network; 5. community consensus and governance.

Consider these factors and you have a winner. There are many candidates (functioning and to be created). We are in early days despite development is fast as lightning. Only time will tell.

I agree, litecoin is best placed and has almost as much recognition as bitcoin, it is the sleeping giant and could really take off especially if it adds those things that bitcoin won't and they are successful.

DOGE coin is the only coin I know on your choices but it's performance in the market is not that good. It has a very low value, I hope it will increase in the future. About your other choices, may I know why did you choose them? I'm making a review on what are the best coins to invest in trading.

I think that you forgot to include MoonDollar on your list....that's a popular chain right around the beginning of April every year....I wouldn't ignore the support MoonDollar has achieved throughout the annual cycles.  People talk about MoonDollar as if it were bitcoin proper right around the same time every year if you've noticed!  I think it's a sleeper!

However, I like BitSend (BSD) because it's been around for awhile and it has a devoted developer.

Dogecoin might have a low value but still included on the top altcoin which is listed on marketcap and also its still alive for how many years  and still kicking. We cant fully judge a coin as long it isnt dead yet as of now.
Possibilities of pump or adoption is always there it would depend on the community or people if they would engage to dogecoin. In my own view ETH would be the next to bitcoin.

I'd have to say Ethereum and Dash between the two.

I have read lots of good feedbacks about those coins especially Ethereum. From being hacked before and  there was a huge fall on Ethereum and now they've overcome it and had reached its highest value since it started. I'm keeping an eye on this.

The rankings in the top 10  coinmarketcap did not change for the past 6 months so I believe the top 4 in the coinmarketcap
Ethereum,Ripple,Litecoin and Dash are still going to compete as the next popular altcoin after Bitcoin.,

I think dash and ethereum are currently the next in lines. According to my research now dash is 70$ while ethereum is 50%. Well im not sure of this but i think ethereum is the fastest currency to reach this price if im not mistaken?.

Most of the alts around are scams or testnets. Two are the alts that stand out and I believe are besides to bitcoin. The first one is litecoin which has proved its resistance to time; launched at 2011, faster confirmation times and maybe segwit implementation. In addition monero due to the very useful features missing from bitcoin that is, the untraceability of payments and the unlinkable transactions.

For me the best altcoin that is next to bitcoin is Eth and Litecoin. When I learn trading I invest on these 2 altcoins which are the best for me until now. It is still on top and leading cryptocurrency for me.

We can see the prices of all coins online in many site but we know that there are alt coins that you can also exchange for a hundreds dollar or less like Ethereum, and Monero so far there two alt coins is the most close in the price of bitcoin a thousand dollar but still if you rate that range of alt coins in bitcoin still a long run for alt coin but we can say that alt coins can still achieved success.

You have to break it into categories.

BTC Clones: LTC
Corporate facing: XRP
AnonCoins: XMR
Tokenized Assets: ICN
